About Fault - Broken Promises

To be at her side forever, to support and make her laugh - that had been the promise he gave her.
Now, years later, the two are studying swordsmanship and magic at the same academy: Albel, the aspiring newcomer, and Aiel, the beautiful and highly skilled swordswoman.
However, their promised future seems in danger after he loses in a duel against Karl, one of the academy’s strongest members.
A debt of 100.000 gold to be paid in 25 days, that is the deal for his defeat. Meanwhile, for every day it takes him to collect the debt, Aiel will receive a special training lesson from Karl…
Can he repay the debt before it’s too late? Or will his future hold nothing but broken promises?

“Fault” is a classic RPG with turn-based combat and a wide roster of NPCs to interact with. You can expect an engaging, dialogue-driven story with multiple endings.
You play as Albel, an aspiring newcomer at the academy of magic and swordsmanship.
Gameplay consists of going to the dungeon, fighting monsters and collecting loot before returning to the academy at night. You will be returned from the dungeon if you run out of stamina or get defeated.
Your goal is to collect enough gold to repay Albel’s debt to Karl. The various endings depend on how long it takes you to repay 100.000 gold.

- Team up with Yuni or play solo as you fight your way through the dungeon.
- Dual battle system: Simplified turn-based combat for normal enemies and a classic battle interface for bosses.
- Manage your debt: Save up on gold or use it to buy better equipment.
- Dynamic vendor inventory: The selection of offered items can change from day to day. It will be up to you to keep on saving gold or to spend it on a powerful, rare item.
- Multiple endings and 99 save slots to try out different strategies!

Players are deeply divided on this game. Those enjoying it appreciate the character design, emotional storytelling, and focused narrative experience within a compact RPG framework. However, critics overwhelmingly lambast the tedious map design filled with empty, repetitive corridors, the overly simplistic combat system that amounts to repeatedly pressing attack with no real strategy, and excessive dialogue that makes progression feel like a slog even with skip options available.
This game lives up to it's name because it suffers from three critical faults that made it not only uninteresting, but also annoyingly tedious. Playing this game was as much fun as eating hair. First, the map size of interiors is ridiculous. It felt like doing a six hour foot tour of Boston but avoiding any scenic points, landmarks or tourist sites and just visiting strip malls. Everything looks similar and you spend so much time just trying to find a way out that punching your groin feels less aggravating. Second, the combat system is the absolute laziest and most monotonous effort I've seen in a game. It is literally choose attack or escape and if you pick the first you just repeatedly hit enter until one of you fall. This is the primary method that progresses the story! It makes flipping a coin look like a brilliant strategy orchestrated by Hannibal to invade Italy. Third, the devs chose to tell the story from the perspective of the one being cheated on rather than the cheater. This frustrates me more than anything else when devs go this route. This is not what NTR is about. The the cuck is never the focus. Most NTR stories follow the same concept. A catastrophic mistake i…7 found this helpful
A tedious and uninspired RPG Maker game I found this game incredibly boring from the very start. The story failed to catch my attention and quickly became a slog. Large areas that look like they should be full of content instead feel completely empty. Most of the time is spent clicking through walls of text. (You can skip them with CTRL, but the dialogues are so drawn out that even skipping feels like a chore.) The combat system appears to be a twist on the usual RPG Maker formula, but it’s really just the same old thing stripped down. Instead of a variety of skills, you’re basically left with “attack” and that’s it. The addition of a “stamina” system, which limits how many enemies you can fight per day, doesn’t add strategy. You need an external patch, but scenes are vanilla and the art style is bland and forgettable. There is nothing here i felt made the game stand out from countless other low-effort RPG Maker titles. Overall, this feels like a low-tier game with little to offer. 4/10.2 found this helpful

So I paid 4 € and some cents during spring sale, finished first run without the uncut patch you get on https://saikeystudios.com/product/fault-broken-promises/. I finished on 12 day and I will probably do another run later with the uncut patch. There are some voiced Lines in this. I gotta admit I am absolutely in Love with Yuni's design and She is the reason why i bought. From an Artists standpoint In Terms of effort invested and Quality of the Result Yuni's character design is a 10/10.
Fault - Broken Promises is an indie fantasy RPG developed by Bicorn’s Forest and published by Saikey Studios that blends dungeon crawling, turn-based combat, and emotionally driven storytelling into a compact but thematically focused experience. At its center is Albel, a young academy apprentice whose ambitions and promises begin to unravel after a decisive loss to his rival. That defeat carries severe consequences, forcing him into a desperate race against time to repay an overwhelming debt. The narrative framework is built around this sense of urgency, transforming what could have been a straightforward dungeon crawler into a story shaped by pressure, regret, and fragile relationships. The core gameplay loop revolves around venturing into dangerous dungeons to collect gold and resources needed to clear a massive financial obligation. Exploration unfolds through classic 2D environments filled with monsters, treasure, and branching paths. Combat primarily uses a turn-based system, requiring players to manage health, stamina, skills, and equipment effectively. While standard encounters are relatively streamlined, boss battles introduce more traditional RPG elements that demand tact…
