Review of the build available in December 2024 (will revisit if the developer asks. The dev appears to actively be updating the game) It's evil Battle Brothers. It's Battle Brothers, but you're evil 100% of the time. For anyone with any play time of the aforementioned, a lot of the mechanics are incredibly similar but with a first person overland movement system. The pros: - The combat system is similar to Battle Brothers but with enough unique mechanics to make it stand out. You work for an evil God reminiscent of a Warhammer entity that wants you to clear the map of towns and cities. The God provides you with boons that can advance your warband or give you new recruits. It's satisfyingly complex enough without needing a large manual. - I did some research, and the map is similar to a game called Doomdark's Revenge. It's incredibly retro and lofi, but in a relaxing way. - Game is stable, bugs were only minor inconveniances. The cons: - I assume the dev is still working. In one build, hitting targets after a miss seemed overtuned. It was fixed between patches. Bows currently feel undertuned. - The UI is busy and static looking. I do love tactical RPG games. Actually, Battle Brothers is one of my favorite games of all times! And...well, i got a lot of review keys recently, so starting Fernageddon i wasn't completely aware what type of game is that. The answer is simple - tactical RPG with a lot of depth. Great! Instead of team of mercenaries (as it's in most game of the genre - Battle Brothers, Wartales, Urtuk, The Iron Oath, etc) here you are leading a doomsday cult with the mission to destroy all human, elf and dwarf settlement. Yes, you are playing with the bad guys! Using the services of four classes (each with 8 sub-classes) of human heroes and plethora of fantasy followers - from lowly imps to trolls and dragons, you have to bring doom and destruction to the peaceful fantasy world. The turn based fights are great, the number of builds, perks, skills and items - huge, and the music is really pleasant for the ears (and if you have seen enough of my videos, you know that i can't stand bad music). Yup, i am going to keep playing Fernageddon in my streams, the game is THAT good. Good fun. Like Leman but shorter and much more focused on destroying cities (That's kinda the only objective, though there are side quests, ruins and dungeons). Battle system was changed from Leman and imo, for the worse. It's still pretty close so it's still fun, but it's missing major features like autocombat, and the energy system is not as cool as the previous fatigue system. Not nearly as polished as Leman though, encountered way too many bugs, included a major softlock progression blocker. Hopefully they get patched as it's a very solid foundation.

I helped out with some early play testing! Highly recommend Fernageddon to all RPG/Strategy gamers - if you like Battle Brothers, Leman or other similar releases, you will truly enjoy this game. It's especially satisfying burning everything - magic-users/spellcasters are a particular favourite :-) Have fun.
