Peak game
That was a really good surprise! :D It plays like megaman a good bit, the story was surprisingly interesting and have some interesting idea, same for the gameplay, with a good flow of upgrade as you progress, and the firefighter theme is applied in fun ways. The game looks simple but clearly have hearts behind and it shows, good boss battles, interesting level design, good pace, good challenge level. It's not the longest game but it use it's time well. Highly recommended!
[i]STATUS: Finished the game with 10 spheres. Maybe I'll try to get them in another run... I'm not sure where I missed 2 secret rooms. I got the game for free through one of the developer's giveaways on Twitter. (Please, read the edit at the end too.)[/i] Don't you love waiting two years before playing the game you got for free after saying you've wanted to play it for a long while? Yeah... same I knew the game went way more under the radar than what was expected, but only ~30 reviews?! This is kinda why I felt like I had to do a review, especially since I liked it. This is gonna be a long one, but I do feel like it deserves it. Maybe a long review is all you'll need... who knows! This was way nicer than I expected it to be! (Not that I expected it to be bad, but you get what I mean, right?) I didn't think I'd get into it that much but I did, a lot. While the art obviously isn't Sea of Stars or Loop Hero levels of quality, the character designs are really nice, even the simple little spheres. The areas you go in look nice too and the enemies look really cool. I absolutely love characters with a huge smile and/or no eyes and/or (again) being made of fire or something, so I loved …
Very fun game and interesting take on the mega man formula. Having to put out fires so they don't spread felt truly tense at points and some moments are superbly crafted. My biggest complaint was that there wasn't a level select and there are a couple small errors in the game but other than that you should give it a shot.
wow i cannot believe how banging the music and the story are for this game. gameplay is solid as well. hope to see a sequel or spiritual sequel down the road, good job!
