Florida Interstate 86 is a rare species on steam, since there aren't that many games on here (good games atleast) that have floridian, miami vice, and vaporwave aesthetics to them, which is a shame since those are some of the best aesthetic genre's around. PROS - fluent controls. Ignore steam demanding you to play with a controller. A keyboard works just fine. -tropical aesthetic. Despite being simple, it conveys strong Miami vibes that I enjoy. -good music selection. The game has a good choice of synthwave, vaporwave, and Miami vice themed songs put into it CONS -graphics. The graphics seem a little dated, making the game feel like it came out in the mid 2010's, though this is a good thing for lower end computers -less diverse gameplay mechanics. I havent played it for long, but the gist of what I got is that you collect cassette tapes which make you go faster and extend the timer, and you also have a speed boost and can ram into cars. Besides that and a power up that lets you explode other cars, thats pretty much it. PERSONAL SUGGESTIONS -more ambience. Possibly adding more ambience to the game, such as the sounds of waves washing on the beach, Can make the game feel m…1 found this helpful
gta 6 is already out, this is it.
Endless driving collecting the Cassettes. Definitely Recommended!!!
This is a competent infinite runner. I love the synth-pop soundtrack and I have mostly played this game as something to do while listening to it. The aesthetic is great at evoking a neon-drenched Miami Vice fantasy of Florida, and (in easy mode at least) dodging cars and picking spots to turbo creates a pretty chill flow state. I think the game is a little light on highway elements and it has a noticeably streaky distribution system that leads to really long patches with no pickups at all, along with other undesirable behaviors like bunching up multiple roadblocks. This makes playing for score pretty frustrating. The distribution seems pegged to the high-speed later portions of runs, which can lead to some frustratingly empty opening sections. My final negative here is a lack of interesting decisions: there are few meaningful branch points and the best powerup is totally random and streaky. Overall the OST probably pushes this into the positive column for me.
atmospheric, cozy, chill... and hard :)
