Footgun: Underground

The game isn't awful, and this is right on the border between recommend and not recommend. The idea for the game is unique, using the soccerball and your feet to damage enemies is a fun idea....in theory. Also the different balls are all different, some better than others, and it is fun to see what new abilities you will get with new unlocks. The rest of the game is half baked. First off aiming with the ball is super finnicky on mouse or gamepad, especially with flying enemies or guys on ceiling/up in corners. I once died on a boss trying to hit him 1 last time, but was so imprecise and he was in the single top R corner. The other issue is during fights you're trying to dodge a bunch of things while aiming an imprecise ball. The aiming system should have been revamped and more untuitive. The character unlocks are boring, as its just different stat allocations, and starting balls/abilities, but these are things you can pick up anyways so they aren't unique. Theres also different things like inventory spots and ability boost spots, which is just different allocations of plus/minus. The metaprogression sucks, as you unlock the ABILITY to find these items out in the wild but the more…

Finished the game 2 times. Got most of the achievements. Pros: - It's a fun physics based game. - Lots of different upgrades and balls to play with. - Good enemy variation. Cons: - UI is very buggy especially when changing ball upgrades from inside balls. - Progression feels unfinished, there could be more impactful events or some indicator that shows you are in end game area. - Characters having different inventory slots is one of the most annoying decisions in this game, I would prefer upgrading inventory slots by each time beating the game or beating a boss. It's an ok game, but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone who is not in indie market games.

i wouldnt recommend it. the game sounded fun at first but its all really superficial. the most annoying point is that if you equip multiple balls they collide with each other, which ♥♥♥♥♥ up your otherwise perfect shots. if i knew the game stayed that superficial the entire time in all its mechanics and doesnt get any updates, I would not have bought it.

[h1]Not every roguelite needs hundreds of hours of gameplay, and that's ok![/h1] It's been a year since I finished the game, but I still remember it fondly. I rarely buy games at full price, but I have never regretted doing so in this case. [i]Footgun: Underground[/i] is just a lot of fun to play and also to complete 100%. The mechanics complement each other well, and you are allowed to mix and match the various power-ups to create some really broken combinations. So sad to see the game fly under the radar, as I believe it had the potential to gain a bigger audience.
