FROM THE DEVELOPER:
As a mother, artist and ultrasound tech working at a high risk OB/GYN clinic, I've had the privilege to support human beings at their most vulnerable. My experiences,

Fragile Fighter is a story-driven adventure game and platformer, that uses beautiful artwork and an impressive original soundtrack to convey the fragility and vulnerability of life. This dark and emotional story is in contrast to its vibrant, stunning colours and is filled with symbolic references relating to mental health. The strength in this game lies in its atmospheric story-driven narrative, rather than its platformer control mechanics that do little to impress. If you liked GRIS, you should like this title. Pros + Beautiful, vibrant artwork. + Excellent original soundtrack (included as an extra with every copy of the game). + Hand-drawn animated cut scenes. + Emotional and gripping story + Challenging gameplay. + Diverse and interesting boss battles. + Extremely symbolic. + Three upgradable weapon types with customisable colours. Cons - After a cut scene the music stutters and then starts blaring again. I found this to take away from my immersion experience. - Steam overlay problems. If I pressed shift + tab ingame, it seemed to mess with the full screen options. - Screenshot problems. When I pressed F12, it brought up ingame console options.
Story
…34 found this helpful

Full Disclosure: I was given a copy to review this game. I haven’t had much time to play the game myself but from trying it out and having seen my friends play it, it has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. Fortunately all that goes through to the audience even if they’re not playing and everything from the music to the artstyle really shine through. Gameplay can feel a little finicky sometimes and the one touch death mechanic can frustrate new players but the need to finish the story, although very short, is a very big motivator. At its price it’s a short experience but full of impact and I felt like it was worth it.2 found this helpful
If I created a tagline for this game, it would read, "Every Struggle Is Different." Because that is my takeaway from this game. Both the story elements, told in simplistic, yet comprehensible imagery and the gameplay, which alternates in difficulty and style through, tell the stories of several young individuals who had experienced or are experiencing very real and very traumatic struggles in their life. In particular, the gameplay does as well a job if not better to help you experience these struggles firsthand, as the protagonist experiences these struggles along with them through a creative storytelling using level design and mechanics, before facing her own brushes with death and braving a narrow path to recovery. The music is gorgeous, as is the animation and still images, and although it has a very short play time, the ending is a satisfying one. This game is worth every penny, and will send you on a feels trip you didn't know you needed.2 found this helpful
A short platform game with some truly evocative (and surprisingly well-drawn) cut scenes. Pretty easy to finish with the exception of a boss or two. Could use some gameplay elements to give it some depth but overall, I don't regret my time playing. A good first effort from this developer. Looking forward to what she comes up with next.
Wonderfully executed, visually arresting, and one of those rare games that is actually calming rather than anxiety inducing. My son is usually a very "shoot'em up and blood and guts" game player, but he very much enjoyed the serenity and lushness found in FF. As an old school veteran of side scrollers, I found this game an absolute treat. 10/10, would definitely recommend this game on every level.
