About Galactic Ruler Enlightenment
Galactic Ruler Enlightenment provides 2 different campaigns, each with an option for an aggressive or peaceful path to victory. Built on the same systems and features from the original Galactic Ruler, but designed around 2 new playable races.
Players begin with a single homeworld and limited military, and must explore a unique galaxy with each playthrough, expand their territory and military forces, exploit resources from various planets in different star systems, and possibly exterminate the competition.
In the campaigns, players will interact with all the different races. Each other race has their own goals and agenda. Players will need to decide which factions would make good allies and which factions are simply a stepping stone to greater glory.
To be competitive in the galaxy, players will leverage new technologies and ship designs. Initially players only have access to their home system, but research will unlock improvements such as FTL travel, beam weapons and shields which can be equipped on new ship designs. Build up your space fleet to keep your people safe.
What the Galactic Ruler series offers that is unique from other games, is that not only does the action take place at space level, but most planets have surfaces that are accessible for colonization or exploitation. This also creates a new battlefield. Players will engage in combat on the planet below and the space above simultaneously.
Galactic Ruler Enlightenment offers real-time strategy game play at both the planetary level and in space! Campaign play expands the series with story driven elements. Lead your faction in diplomacy or conquest across a unique galactic map where any system might hold hostile enemies or resource riches. Harness needed resources and develop advanced technology to rule the galaxy in the latest offering from BattleGoat Studios.

84 minutes played .... And refunding. Here's a list of reasons why I feel strongly enough to post such a negative critical review after such a short time played: • Devs openly admit Galactic Ruler Enlightenemnt [GRE] is a re-release (same game as GR with Enlightenment added to the name) to garner more attention, avoid old negative reviews and join the latest Steam festival sale. • I bought the game yesterday in the latest Steam sale excited to play a promising 'new' space 4x only to find out today it is a re-issue and the devs announced just 7 days ago (and about the start of the Steam sale) that 'all development has now shifted to their next game : Supreme Ruler 2030 and that GRE will only be receiving ongoing fixes'. - Well I guess I fell victim to that marketing trick - it makes me feel completely scammed. They re-release the same game with an updated name solely to get into the latest Steam sale knowing they had already effectively abandoned improving the game in favour of the next project. I also found Galactic Ruler [GR] didn't get a free 'upgrade' to GRE but were expected to pay for their marketing trick - so I'm just the latest in a line of people that have been scam…78 found this helpful
Really fun concept, really enjoy it up until it crashes, then crashes again. Its like the game has reached its limit at the same point. I have gone through the threads, tried adjusting the game scale, and the in game settings. From reading the forums it seems like there was only one fix to constant crashing issue, double the normal 16 gb of RAM to 32, otherwise it seems like the method is to blame hardware or software (there is no war in Ba Sing Se lol). I tried on two computers both capable of handling 3d modeling, texturing and unreal engine. If later down the road I give this another try and can make it through a decent amount of play I will change this. The same goes for the original galactic ruler. Right not I get right to where I feel I am building something to be proud of then crash after crash. I also tried taking it slow and not attacking anyone. It eventually crashed. I have noticed the game crashes when you try to do things your not suppose to, I wonder if the AI is doing the same and crashing the game. Just a thought. There are also sudden and noticeable lag spike when the game changes music, cant remember if its the same song our not. I was able to get farther whe…1 found this helpful
A very deep game. Takes everything in the previous SR games and adds three levels of strategy - galactic, systemwide and a ground battle level. The game itself is a little opaque but well worth the effort to get into to - so much opportunity for storybuilding and renaming units and planets and so on(something I appreciate). The Enlightenment version also has a campaign of its own, which is a nice way of guiding a player through a story rather than leaving you to your own devices fully. I would recommend for anyone into deep strategy games, and definitely for anyone who enjoys other SR games.1 found this helpful

Really enjoying this game even though it still needs some work from the developers. I am enjoying the game play style and the depth. There is quite a steep learning curve and lots of "hidden" detail to master but it is worth the effort. Plenty of help available on the forums and Discord.
Now, I had to sadly change my review for this game for one simple reason... This game isn't finished, not the original GR version, nor this one "DLC"... The AI is simply attrocious, as it is the very same AI from the supreme ruler series (which works kinda just fine in that series) slaped on top of a 3 layer inter-stellar board. Lovely idea, yes, but DAMN, badly implemented. Lets be real here, this game has everything I looked for in a space game, it allows you to essentially do everything from building your infrastructure from the ground up, right up untill you reach self suficiency, and even simulates the power scalling from maxxing out all the natural resources extraction from your planet until your required industry to keep your empire simply afloat is just begging for off-world resources... From this, all the way to loading up an 8 inch towed arty (produced by this same industry) battery into your space port, having a massive transport fleet show up to load it, then ferry it all to a planet in a completelly different solar system in the other side of the galaxy to unload it and take it to a literally trench-line to hammer the last remnants of some forgotten species that is…
