About Galaxy Bricks
Galaxy Bricks is a mashup of two very well known games Galaga and Arkanoid. A Arcade Fixed shooter type game. The gameplay mechanics and rules are simple. Destroy the bricks on each level to progress to the next one. However enemies might spawn from these bricks, and attack you!
The player will have powerups to help them deal with every obstacle of each level as they progress through campaign and endless mode respectively.
Unlock different themes to change the art style of the game as you complete the campaigns to use in endless.
There are some nice ideas in this game but it is far too easy and therefore only the achievements and high scores will be any motivation for you continuing. Even then, because of the easiness of the game, all of the modes can be beaten in ninety minutes and more than likely you will quit at that point.
I liked the idea of a Arkanoid brick breaker clone paired with a Galaxian type Space Invader game play, and it should be an excellent mix, but there's just not enough excitement to keep your interest unfortunately. For a start, you cannot destroy any of the blocks until you collect a power up that allows you to do this. Sometimes, it can be a couple of minutes before it slowly drifts down to your bat and you can start blasting away. Okay, that would work if in the meantime you were kept busy will alien invaders, but nothing much happens until you get the power up, which can mean minutes of just waiting around. I was literally drinking my cup of tea whilst waiting. There are a few solitary invaders that make an appearance in that time but they are no bother to kill and never threaten you. Once you do have the power up in your arsenal it doesn't take too long to blast a…10 found this helpful
Ceak's Galaxy Bricks Review
TLDR : A mix of Galaga and Arkanoid two old school games, for the younger generations alien invasion and brick breaker. The game needs more work but if you are a fan of arcade games particularly old school arcade games you may want to check this one out.
Pros:

Music is on track for the genre
The combination of games is nice
Movement of the platform is smooth
Stages are quick
Generous amount of lives per stage

Cons:

Title screen needs work
No in game tutorial
No explanation or key on what items do
Ball doesnt seem to bounce as expected, at least when compared to the old games

Suggestions:

Fix the cons
Add more enemies and "weapons"
5 found this helpful
This is a mixed review, but recommending if bought for a low/sale price. It has some good ideas combining Arkanoid with Galaga, is simple to play and fun for a short time. There are a number of issues/constructive criticism: 1. The ball does not react like in Arkanoid - it tends to go straight up and down a lot, especially after you "catch" it. It is difficult to change the trajectory of the ball depending on which side of the bat and how acute the angle. 2. The game is far too easy - starting every level (all 10 for each theme plus endless mode) with 50 lives each time, makes it difficult to lose. These lives are reset to 50 o every level - perhaps there should be difficulty settings. I completed the entire game with all achievements in 76 minutes of play. 3. The ball should reflect/divert when it hits the aliens rather than just destroying them without changing direction. Again this could be added as a setting to make the game more challenging. 4. There could be a variety of different sizes for the alien and power-up sprites instead of them all being the same size. 5. If you pickup powerups that are in use and then die, you retain the powerup with the next ball. That is a major …3 found this helpful
a mix up of galaga and arkanoid is the perfect description of the game. Very fun and enjoyable to play. It definitely has an addicting game feel to it. The art styles for the campaign were really nice. I can't wait to see how this game improves going forward. I was sponsored to play the game, however i did truly enjoy it. I even went as far as to obtain the high score in endless mode.3 found this helpful
It's a good game, its easy and simple to understand and isnt to hard to get into. But You should add more power ups for people to use, as well as making the game harder as time passes or having a way for the player to set how hard the game will be for them and you should add in different kinds of enemies that do different things from the ones already in the game to make it harder for the player, or you could give the enemies abilities or power ups of there own.2 found this helpful
If Peggle and Space Invaders had a baby, you would get Galaxy Bricks.2 found this helpful
