It's a minecraft graphics adventure game where you talk to NPCs backed by AI LLMs. There are HUGE problems with this. First up, LLMs aren't cheap, if this is backed by chatbots in cloud (AWS Bedrock etc) then there's either a set number of credits (which means the game will stop being playable) or playing this game costs the developer money... that's kinda funny. Secondly these chatbots ARE NOT PRIVATE. Just like the developers of the language models stole a bunch of copyrighted material and used it without permission to train their models, these LLMs also train based on user interaction with them... that makes this SPYWARE by proxy. Avoid playing this game for that reason. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. 逆転探偵 is a really interesting little mystery game because it lets me investigate a murder by actually talking to the villagers instead of simply selecting from a fixed list of dialogue options. I play as the private detective Ataru Sagumoto, who arrives in a quiet village and suddenly finds himself involved in a murder case. I liked the basic setup immediately because it gives the investigation a more unpredictable feeling. The biggest feature for me is the free text conversation system. I can type questions to the villagers and their AI driven responses can change depending on how I ask something. I enjoyed experimenting with different questions because it makes the conversations feel much less scripted than I normally expect from a small detective game. There are also preset questions available, which is useful when I do not feel like typing everything myself. The actual investigation combines those conversations with searching the environment for physical evidence. I have to collect testimony keywords, inspect the crime scene and gradually work out which pieces of information actually matter.
