REWIND (2026)

REWIND is a compact detective experience that puts deduction ahead of spectacle, asking players to carefully examine information rather than simply follow a trail of conveniently highlighted evidence. Developed and published by Damian_Zhao, the game begins with an intriguing closed-circle scenario involving a film crew staying in a hotel penthouse. By the following morning, the director has been found dead in the swimming pool. What initially appears to be a straightforward death quickly develops into a deeper investigation in which the player must determine whether a murder actually occurred, identify possible suspects, and reconstruct the events surrounding the incident. The most distinctive element is the game's commitment to genuine investigation. There are nearly one hundred clues scattered throughout the experience, and understanding how those pieces connect is considerably more important than simply discovering them. A seemingly minor detail can become crucial once another statement or piece of evidence provides additional context. Cool game with interesting concepts.

Amazing game, slightly difficult at times, but in a great way, rather than a frustrating way. Thought provoking, took roughly an hour/90 minutes to complete.

As a murder mystery fan, I voraciously eat up who-dun-its. And, in about an hour, I was able to crack this little free case. As some other reviewers have stated, the mechanics are a bit clunky, and the "how to" of the game would not load for me until I'd already stumbled through configuring (mostly) how to get momentum in the clue finding. Once I figured that out, I did enjoy connecting the statements and the evidence and corroborating the suspects' storylines. I do wish that you could cross-examine other characters' statements when relevant with the suspect you are interrogating. There also could have been slightly more input from the forensic scene/investigator, as well as maybe some red herring clues to throw you off and prolong the ending. Overall, for a free game, it was worth the hour spent.

What I liked the most, was that you need logic, especially to find conflicting statements. I would love for the game to be longer!

Really enjoyable little experience. It's a shame it's such a short game. The whole puzzle element of matching up clues to get more questions or to confirm things is a great concept to work with. The only complain i have is sometimes the clues would bug out and not match up together even if I was selecting the right ones. I really enjoyed the interrogation thing and matching up what they said. One cool thing would be to allow one to match up one dialogue with someone else's dialogue. It also would've been pretty cool to have some details from the forensic investigator. Anyhow, it is a great fun experience and I would love to see more of this style
