Glyph is a minimalistic and mesmerizing precision platformer with a movest of just 4 moves: After a brief introduction your golden scarab jumps, glides, smashes and double jumps its way through the desert dunes. And with that the game lets you off the leash! The general conecepts are tried and true: 1. Collect the keys and reach the exit! 2. Avoid the hot sand - the floor is lava! It might not sound like it but the sense of freedom you get from simply moving around truly is something else. Controlling your momentum feels natural and intuitive at all times. The game's physics work very well for speed run challenges - something the game offers the player as an optional change of pace. Usually I am not someone to go out of my way to complete all achievements for a game because I don't consider it fun. And yet here I was - adding multiple hours to my already finished playthrough to get my golden mandibles on the very last collectible! While after more than 80 levels the game was on the verge of becoming repetitive - I never felt like it (for me). In the end I enjoyed every minute of the experience. Only the hideous and uninspired user interface struck me as a little jarring. If th…

Glyph is a fun physics based platformer where having patience is equally as important as slamming yourself into an angled pillar at mach 20 speed is. There will be a few levels where you feel more frustrated than anything else and at that point I encourage you to put down the game for a few hours and try again later. After completing everything this game has to offer I would say that it is absolutely worth playing, especially if you are able to get the game on sale (although the base price is already a bargain.)

I finished more than 50 % of the game and I can say that it is very repetitive. Nothing wrong with the controls BTW. Most things in Glyph are just ok, sound design is good. controls are good. Long story short, it is a solid game and that is the main issue I have with this game. After 12 hrs I feel like I am playing the same level over and over. There are 2 types of levels, time trial and ones where you have to collect things aka collectathon. The levels are ok but after some time you feel like you are playing variations of one level. Meaning that the layout of the levels are different but there is almost nothing new added, In my opinion level design is boring and uninspired. The graphics look awful in most levels. All in all not the worst 3D platformer but I can't recommend it for the reasons I stated. Not worth your time and money.

After giving this game a 2 year pause because of the Dragon's Tail achievement being a pain to complete in my previous, now retired setup, I got back to this gem and managed to 100% it. And having completed this game in its entirety, I will say, it was just as good as I expected it to be from the demo I also played. Controls have a good mix of floaty and tight, in a way they're easy to learn, yet hard to master, especially given the game's very speedrun oriented. Solutions to puzzles are mostly intuitive if you've experimented enough to grasp the game's physics and mechanics, and mastering the more advanced moves is key to achieving 100% completion. And the music and sound effects fit the game's artstyle in a magnificent way, making the game more of a work of art than a mere trial-and-error game. It's indie games like this one that remind me of gaming is more than just chasing goals and completing achievements, it is also enjoying the ride. My only complaint about this game would be how some screens take too much time to transition (like the end of level screen), which goes against the more speedrun oriented gameplay style. And as a warning for users that are not patient, or a…

Super great game for a casual gamer that wants a challenge but not have time for a steep learning curve. It is super simple and satisfying to control and the tasks are simple to understand.
