Gods of Sand

I played this game for unspeakable hours, building up my gladiator and making it to the final boss. This final boss turns out to be a literal clone of my character, and by sheer RNG chance, I lost. But unlike the other times I lost, this literally killed him, resulting in all that time I spent equating to nothing. You can't be serious. This has to be one of the dumbest game designs I have ever played, and seemingly hellbent on causing disappointment. I even skipped a day to see if there was a failsafe in the story. There wasn't. Don't buy this. Edit: Extremely immature response from the developer calling it a "skill issue", there is no skill involved with this game, and when your "20% weaker clone" lands crits when you didn't, and the game deletes your entire progress, how can you call that fair? Screw this company.

Love gladiator games but this gets boring pretty fast. It needs more content

The game is simple and a little grindy, but there is fun to be had managing your stable of gladiators. Random events keep you on your toes. There are a number of different gladiator builds to try out of the skill tree, but the sheer number of combats means that combat will get stale regardless. If you like roman arena management games, this one will do.

Slow, boring. Not for me.

I'm not normally one to leave reviews, but the very first review I read said this game is bs because the final boss is just you. The previous reviewer lost and died. The final boss is not you. There's like 8ish fights in a row leading up to the final boss, 1 of those fights is in fact a slightly weaker clone of you. How you lose to a clone of you that uses abilities in a random order rather than in the most efficient way for the situation is beyond me. Anyway. Games fine. Definitely worth the current $5 sale price. Probably not at full price. Once you win you get something of an Ascension mechanic from STS but there isn't really enough depth to the game to make me want to play it more than the one 6ish hour playthrough. Ability tree is composed of 4 sections, each ones got a few actives and a few passives with some incredibly obvious extreme synergies. The only limiting factor is money which you'll realize about 15 minutes in isn't even a real limiting factor as much as how long you want to sit there and click the same 6 buttons in a row over and over again.
