About Grey Block

"The Church Institute for Psychological Research, or as it's known around here... Grey Block"
Help Theo Church and his accomplice, fellow infiltration specialist Nikki Salzano, escape the Green Valley Psychiatric Hospital that he has been committed to by way of a massive conspiracy led by his powerful and wealthy father. Chart an exit through the hospital's tight security apparatus while searching for evidence of the conspiracy that resulted in your involuntary commitment by hacking computer terminals, picking locks, tinkering with fuse boxes, and scouring offices for paper documents.
Key FeaturesHunt for Evidence & Solve Puzzles
Scour the premises while staying out of sight. Pick locks, hack computer terminals, tinker with fuse-boxes, and take pictures of items that need to be seen to be believed, while unravelling the conspiracy that has ensnared Theo
Move with caution
Theo is not a tank and his ability to physically engage security is limited. Utilizing familiar 3d, 3rd-person shooter mechanics, stealth is crucial to getting out of Green Valley Psychiatric. If Theo makes too much noise, guards will investigate the sound, and if they see you, they will engage. Nurses on the other hand will run to the nearest intercom to alert the guards if they spot Theo.
The Long Road or The Short Road
How Theo and Nikki choose to escape matters. Should you choose violence, Theo's story will have less credibility unless backed up by considerable evidence. Should you rely on wit, there may be ways to unblock the path that rely on hacking fuseboxes, and picking locks. Your choice affects the outcome...
A Haunting, Yet Familiar WorldThe world of Grey Block is one of a parallel dystopia. Around the same time in our world that funding for psychiatric care dried up, private capital sensed a unique business opportunity in the world of Grey Block. Innovation immediately flourished, the old Kirkbride-style institutions were transformed into chic, rehabilitation facilities, and a wave of novel treatments began to emerge. It was not to last though. The profit-driven nature of venture capitalists seeking to maximize ROI eventually claimed the high ground over the altruism of researchers seeking to serve the greater good. The world in which you take control of Theo is at a point when most of the altruistic have moved on, and those that remain are largely driven by material success. There are some that have stuck it out for the greater good, convinced that they can make a difference, but they are few and far between.
As Theo, you'll hunt for lore items that uncover more detail in the tangled web of characters present in his world. From Alexandra Roth, Theo's doctor, to Vic Vance and Erin Banker, the leadership at Cobalt Venture Capital (Green Valley's financers), to the internet hacktivist group SINON, to Theo's own father David Church, the more you look for, the more you'll find.

Grey Block features a compelling story about mental health and strong atmosphere with solid stealth mechanics and lock-picking implementation, earning praise from players who enjoy narrative-driven escape games. However, the game suffers from significant technical issues including a janky camera system that undermines stealth gameplay, poor character animations and facial expressions, awkward controls, and game-breaking bugs that can prevent completion, compounded by unresponsive developer support and refund difficulties.
Grey Block has a very well done story that to me is the only saving grace to this game. I'm a big stealth genre fan and this is the main feature of the game besides the few hacking puzzles. I haven't gotten to far into the game (1.4 hrs), but I believe that is were I will leave it. the reason being: 1. The camera is just to janky for a stealth based game. Your character just doesn't feel right when controlling him. You will run into the other character in the game and not be able to see sometimes. 2. The character animations turn me off. I understand it's a Indie title, but I just lose interest in what they are saying do to the poor facial animations. Plus they are rather ugly! 3. The overall gameplay just doesn't feel comfortable for what you a trying to do. To many times I thought I had moved far enough away from any security only to have them pop up outta what seemed like nowhere to knock me out. So to put it simply, I don't believe the game is worth the $19.99 price tag it carries. I could over look some of these issues if it was more like $9.99. For what they are asking I would say wait for a sale if you are interested in checking out Grey Block.18 found this helpful
Asylum. Do you know that this stands for „Adventure Syndrome Leading to Ultimate Madness“? In other words, each time we hear the Word ASYLUM, we are thinking of a Psychatric Hospital, didn´t we? Yes, i know, we are also thinking about THE ASYLUM, who did the great Sharknado Series (I love them). In 1981 Med Systems Software released a Game called ASYLUM. A Text Adventure, where you have to escape a Psychatric Hospital. Over the Years we found many "Asylums" in Games. Mostly abandoned and with dark, dark Secrets. One of the impressived ones was in UNTIL DAWN. So here we are another time. Welcome to GREY BLOCK. You are Theo Church and in the Beginning of the Game you find yourself in the Green Valley Psychiatric Hospital. After the nice done Introduction, you know, that you should leave this Hospital. QUICKLY! With the help of Nikki Salzano, you friend who broke in at Night to help you, you have to find a Way out and reveal many Secrets i don´t want to Spoiler, because GREY BLOCK has a really exciting Story to tell. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2885414824 GREY BLOCK is mostly a Stealth Game. To be honest, i´m normally no fan of Stealth Games, you kno…16 found this helpful

Grey Block is a prisoner escape style third person story game that shares many elements with other games in the stealth category. If you like games like Little Nightmares then I'm sure you'll love this game!1 found this helpful
[h2]Stigma against mental illness is a scourge with many faces, and the medical community wears a number of those faces. - Elyn R.
