You’ve barely escaped the chaos that consumed your hometown overnight. The friendly residents of Grimshire, an isolated mountain village, offer you a new home. Restore the cozy old farmhouse, and tend the fields. But beware, the plague is coming. The community must work together if everyone is to survive.

I love this game so much. This game is cozy with a dark twist! The story has me at the edge of my seat!! I can not wait to be able to play year 2!!!
Have you ever wanted a nice, relaxing farm simulator, with no combat at all (so far and I feel I'm pretty deep in), with a fun set of adorable characters. But, also, wanted the stakes of your actions to be unimaginably high and the consequences of failure to be both dark and deeply personal? This is the game for you.
Can't wait to see where this game goes. It can easily be a staple and as popular as it's competitors. One of my fav new "cozy" farming games.
[h2]I fully and wholeheartedly recommend this game.[/h2] For some background on the kind of person who might be really into Grimshire: I grew up reading Redwall and other "animal stories" as a kid, although I particularly appreciated Redwall because I felt like it didn't shy away from difficult topics. I also grew up playing a huge range of video games, but some of my favorite cozy types were Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and later Stardew Valley (not a shock). This game is totally a blend of these loves, and I appreciate that it does the "cozy sim cute animal" thing while still ripping your heart out with the story and characters. [b]So, on to things I particularly like about this game:[/b] - Very story heavy, especially for this genre of game. It pulls punches I was not expecting and totally took me by surprise! You really fall in love with the cast. I can't underscore this particular point enough. - Extensive customization for your character, and the art is fantastic. I prefer the way that this game has larger character sprites instead of small sprites, and the character portraits are fantastic and very emotive. - Changing seasons are GRADUAL!!! This is the most stressful cozy game I have ever played. To have actual consequences to my farming made the entire experience so much more rewarding. I have not had a game make me cry in a long time, I became very attached to my villagers. It is early access yes, but there is an entire in games years worth of content and choices to make, I put almost 50 hours in and just finished my first playthrough. All I can say is buy this game, support this team, and I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I did <3
