Unfortunately not for its rich water of tuna, but for Somali Pirates. As the Gulf of Aden (a narrow channel between Yemen and Somalia) is a popular route for commercial shipping, tankers and tourist vessels despite its evident dangers, we need confident captains just like yourself to escort them through these treacherous waters. Welcome Captain, to the Gulf of Aden – Task Force Somalia! Gulf of Aden – Task Force Somalia is a strategy / action / tower defence game where you take control of naval vessels and prevent Somali pirates from boarding tankers, sailing yachts or even capturing oil rigs. The first few missions are basically a well thought out tutorial. After that, it will be all up to you. First, you’ll have to select your vessels at the start of each mission. You be given a number of allocation points; from four…

This is an unusual tower defense/soldier defense hybrid where you control ships that you can move around, but you put turrets on the ships. The enemies are waves of Somali pirates. It's an okay premise for a game, I guess. Is it really fun, though? Not all that much. It's very simplistic while trying to appear like a more complex military RTS, which it certainly isn't. Despite being released in 2015, some of the menus are 4:3 stretched. There's 4K support, but the developers didn't know about DPI scaling so text is impossibly small to read if you own a modern PC. It's really not worth the $13 they're asking for this. Just play Kingdom Rush or Plants vs Zombies, they're better and cheaper.

A very good game. As the descriptions says a mix of RTS and Tower defense, 20 missions, the last 5 the most difficult. The main challege is to find the right configuration for your task force.

Gulf of Aden – Task Force Somalia is a naval strategy and tactical defense game developed and published by BlewScreen that takes a grounded and unusually realistic approach to modern maritime conflict. Instead of focusing on massive fictional wars or exaggerated military campaigns, the game centers on anti-piracy operations near the Somali coastline, placing players in command of an international naval task force responsible for protecting vulnerable civilian vessels from organized pirate attacks. By combining real-time strategy mechanics with elements of tower defense and fleet management, the game creates a distinctive experience focused on tactical positioning, resource control, and defensive planning rather than pure offensive warfare. The game immediately stands out because of its setting. Few strategy games choose to explore the real-world anti-piracy operations conducted in the Gulf of Aden, and this focus gives the experience a more grounded atmosphere than traditional military strategy titles. Players are tasked with defending oil tankers, cargo ships, yachts, and drilling platforms while pirate groups launch increasingly aggressive attacks across dangerous waters. The co…
