"GUNPYRE" is a student project that has been published on Steam Direct. It's from Accademia Italiana Videogiochi in Italy. Student projects might look better than amateur shovelware, but they aren't real games. This is just a glorified homework assignment. It lacks the depth and value you get from professionally developed product because it was made for a grade, not for players. Schools shouldn't be using Steam to show off student projects. It might be fine for the school's marketing, but it clutters the Steam store with pollution... we have to sort past all these short student tech demos just so we can find real, full games from professional developers. This is a case of a game dev college putting its own interests before the interests of gamers. The students made an unconventional shooter game that revolves around a gimmick where your guns are little "vampiric" entities that are fuelled by blood. So to "reload" your guns, you suck all the blood out of your enemies. Different blood types give you different ammunition effects. Often, these student projects do carry very inventive ideas. This game is just alright. Nothing too special but also nothing to write home about. Pros: - has decent graphics - runs smooth - good premise - good difficulty Cons: - not much replayability - limited settings - lacking in content - controller only Overall its a good game. Fun for a few minutes to a couple hours. And of course, its FREE so I would recommend picking it up, even if its just for a few minutes because you might enjoy the game more than I did. I definitely can see how people would enjoy this game so give it a try. 6.3/10
