An AKIMBO TWIN STICK SHOOTER
Use a pair of Vampyric Guns -the Gunpyres indeed- to slay hordes of dangerous creatures created by the infamous Crypt Alchemist: each monster is packed with Blood with unique colors and abilities that you can absorb with your Gunpyres.
DIFFERENT BLOODS = DIFFERENT PROJECTILES
Upon brutally executing an enemy with a finisher you can receive one of four different Blood Types. Every Type generates a unique Bullet that will behave differently when shot based on its Color and its unlocked upgrades. Use them wisely according to the situation in order to survive.
EVERY BULLET COUNTS
Your Gunpyres can only shoot Blood Projectiles: hopefully it will be the Enemy’s Blood. Miss too many shots and you will have to sacrifice your own Blood to reload the Gunpyres, by stabbing yourself.
ROGUE-LIKE PROGRESSION
Explore the insidious layout of the Crypt Dungeon: its structure will change in every new attempt, so be careful not to spoil your occasion.
You have 10 Rune Keys, plan your route and gain powerful upgrades along the way (or keep the keys and let the Crypt Alchemist absorb them for an extra challenge!)

◉ Gunpyre started as an academic project by AIV - Accademia Italiana Videogiochi aimed at adding a production experience to the teaching carried out in the various courses, from the creation of the game concept to commercial publishing.
The objective of this initiative is to give students the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other courses in the development of a video game project in which everyone can put the skills acquired during the lessons to the test and at the same time perfect their soft skills. ◉

+Free -No graphical setting options (eg. resolution) -No keybind options at all -Got stuck in the tutorial since reloading required health and I ran out of it, since I was unable to understand the required steps to finish a vulnerable enemy. ...this is coming from someone who has actively played games since Commodore 64s, netting tens of thousands of hours. = Disappointment. "GUNPYRE" is a student project that has been published on Steam Direct. It's from Accademia Italiana Videogiochi in Italy. Student projects might look better than amateur shovelware, but they aren't real games. This is just a glorified homework assignment. It lacks the depth and value you get from professionally developed product because it was made for a grade, not for players. Schools shouldn't be using Steam to show off student projects. It might be fine for the school's marketing, but it clutters the Steam store with pollution... we have to sort past all these short student tech demos just so we can find real, full games from professional developers. This is a case of a game dev college putting its own interests before the interests of gamers. The students made an unconventional shooter game that revolves around a gimmick where your guns are little "vampiric" entities that are fuelled by blood. So to "reload" your guns, you suck all the blood out of your enemies. Different blood types give you different ammunition effects. Often, these student projects do carry very inventive ideas. This game is just alright. Nothing too special but also nothing to write home about. Pros: - has decent graphics - runs smooth - good premise - good difficulty Cons: - not much replayability - limited settings - lacking in content - controller only Overall its a good game. Fun for a few minutes to a couple hours. And of course, its FREE so I would recommend picking it up, even if its just for a few minutes because you might enjoy the game more than I did. I definitely can see how people would enjoy this game so give it a try. 6.3/10
