That was pretty disappointing.
Half Past Fate is a narrative game about two people meeting just before lockdown. I was pretty excited to play it, since my memories of 2020 are still pretty vivid and that's when I was in a long distance relationship. So I thought it would be cool to see a story similar to my own experience.
The story
Our main characters, Stephen and Robin, seem to like each other, but they can't leave home because of the lockdown. They want to keep in touch, so they start videocalling and doing stuff together. Cute!
Why I don't recommend this game
It's extremely short. I don't mind short games, but because of its length, there's basically no time to explore the conflict of the story. For the context:
as the lockdown becomes less strict, Robin wants to meet in person. Stephen is afraid to leave the house since he doesn't want to get sick and also infect his older uncle.
That's a nice topic for the conflict, great! How will the characters resolve it? Well, the conflict gets brushed off really quickly, and everything is fine again. And it's the end of the game... Just to be clear: you spend most of the tim…3 found this helpful
"Half Past Fate: Romantic Distancing" is a Dating-Simulator in which you play as Robin and Stephen. We all know that finding true love is hard enough when it’s in person but in this game you build a relationship through the screen as a couple copes with lockdown life by staying connected online! The Artstyle and music, i really liked it. It took me around 1.2 hours to finish it. There are two endings i found and there are sadly no achievements but that is fine aswell. I got the game for 0,79€ on sale which is pretty good. The game is nice, try it out!1 found this helpful
i love this universe and the o.g. game. This one is for the fans - otherwise it would be very disapointing... too short, storyline unfinished.
not worth 6 dollars (recommend getting it on a huge discount!!!) but short silly game the art is cute
it will take you less than a half hour to play through this interactive story but the visuals and music are a treat.
Genuinely not worth money. There are hundreds of free games with just as good stories that have a meaningful payoff as an ending.
