HammerHelm

This is a very basic game that has very little depth to any of the systems and it gets repetitive quickly. I also encountered a bug that prevented me from progressing the main story and was unable to find a solution for.

Honestly, if HammerHelm had a few more months of enrichment and polish, it would be a pretty solid game. Better lighting, more complex dungeons, an overhaul of the dog-diarrhea UI, and more content to explore and interact with would make this an above average experience. I was able to push about 4 hours of enjoyment, but as other reviews mention: it quickly tapers from being enjoyable to a slow pointless grind. You've pretty much seen and done everything interesting by the time you start building your iron armor set, and new buildings don't really add much to the big picture. A richer story isn't really going to solve anything at this point, what's needed is a reason to want to play more [i]beyond[/i] knocking out achievements; something [i]other[/i] than doing cookie cutter quests and collecting materials just so you can then go out and do more of the exact same. I also encountered a frustrating bug where my miners stopped collecting iron. I'm not sure if this was caused by a pathing or collision issue, but I had to reorganize my town and reassign them to different jobs just to get them moving again. A simple game, honestly crude but provides just enough adventure to make it fun. Combat is floaty and laggy, but once you learn the mechanic it is easy. Your character moves faster than the enemies, so you can use terrain and different strategies without being constantly pressured by aggro. You can block and evade, combat is the typical lazy programming with 1-2-3 action swings that lock out your controls during the attack animations. Base building is just ok. It's like a mini-city builder where you have to make 1 building to gain access to another building, and have to build houses to raise population to work in those buildings, which creates demand for more buildings until eventually your town grid is filled with very little room for design or creativity. Typical city management of spamming buildings in close proximity after clearcutting nature to build an urban sprawl with a few interior/exterior decorations. The progression is linear, you make copper to access iron, then use iron stuff to access the next higher tier of kit. Map is static, play it once and you've seen al this game has to offer. Zero replay value, but still fun to play once! Worth the price …

I got this game as a gift and I love it. This has a rustic feel like playing The Legend of Dragoon from the graphics. You build the town take care of it and it's verry interactive, there is always something to do and its amazing

I have played 21 hours the game is basicly fetch quests with low gold output. Not much of a story all. trhe combat is broken an shallow as a puddle. The game breaks or spikes in damage often. The mines are broken as sin so is the mead hall. Dont buy it unless its a deep sale an you like alot of jank.
