Hangman (2024)

Hangman is a really simple game, but I still found myself enjoying the familiar gameplay more than I expected. This version from Coolmath Games keeps the classic word guessing idea intact while giving it a cute little story setup. I play as Balloon Boy, who is trying to make his way through a forest while avoiding a hungry beast, and that gives the otherwise basic puzzle a little bit of personality. The gameplay is exactly what I want from a straightforward Hangman game. I have to guess letters and work out the hidden words or phrases before I run out of balloons. I liked that every guess gives me another piece of information, so even when I make a mistake I am still thinking about what letters are likely to appear next. It is simple enough that I can understand everything immediately. The three difficulty settings also help the experience stay interesting. The easier setting is relaxing and works well when I just want something casual, while the harder options make me think much more carefully about which letters are worth risking. It's Hangman, but the balloons and monster make it more fun. I am in the UK so most of the food and sports teams went over my head as they were American, but my chat seemed to like it, and of course the people from the USA got the teams and foods I didn't have a clue about, so we had fun. Only played it twice, once on a stream, but I will be playing this again.

Decent puzzles and sometimes difficult. Its free can recommended this!!!
