Hannah's Day impresses players with its striking visual aesthetic and vibrant, detailed cityscapes that make exploration enjoyable, particularly in the first half. However, the experience is significantly hampered by clunky character controls, frequent collision issues that force checkpoint resets, unreliable mechanics like the tilt and gravity systems, and technical problems including bugs with collectible tracking and game freezes, which frustrate an otherwise charming puzzle adventure.
The game play for the first half of the game was actually really enjoyable. Puzzles were fun and the colorful and unique cityscapes, made it a delight to explore. Unfortunately, the game is really brought down by Hannah's clunky movement and the constant collision and getting stuck on objects. Had to restart checkpoints many times due to this and it became very tedious and frustrating. Didn't even get the achievement for completing the game because after the final cut scene, the game froze up and I had to manually close it. The storyline is pretty simplistic and I felt it was definitely geared towards a younger audience. I couldn't really connect with Hannah because she is presented as being utterly immature and frankly, selfish and insensitive towards her parents and friends. It's one thing to be passionate about a dream, but to completely be encompassed in a bubble and ignore your responsibilities and the feelings of others in pursuit of that dream, is not a lesson I wanted to be left with.3 found this helpful
Hannah's Day has an incredible aesthetic. On this quality alone I would recommend playing it despite almost everything else being broken and awkward. (The story is a solid attempt but is hampered by the main character living in a permanent bubble which I assume was a side effect of giving the developers freedom to design levels that aren't limited to a girl skates around town.) It's super easy to get stuck and have to reset. The tilt effect is painfully slow and the gravity shift is rarely anything more than a method of progression (if you don't fall off the map). There is an attempt with the "good deeds" mechanic but it ends up being nothing more than tilt the stage so the NPC doesnt have to walk two feet. Not to worry as the game fails to tally collectibles correctly. Controller issues exist because the developer wants you to use a mouse for the menus leaving little option for what the tilt stick needs to be mapped to. Achievements were added but the game was never updated. Do not play this for the gameplay. Look at it as a walking simulator. If the same team released a new game today I would buy it at full price but the current very positive rankings belie a very flawed gam…2 found this helpful
The controls for this game are awful. Interesting idea, but in a game where the movement is everything it's a major issue.
Sssweet Memphis graphics... Well it's about it. A skate-music game when (expected) rhythm/combo mechanic is replaced by narrative/quest. One will find some unusual contrasts like teenage tantrum tempered by an understated soundtrack, or motion-craving inducing spaces crippled with flow-breaking 'puzzles'. Is this intentional? The fact that game doesn't end but just hangs in the end raises some doubts. The graphics... one could try to squint one's eyes on the 'blemishes', but wait ... where is the graphics. Sssweet...
Hi! Wow! This game is addictive from the first minutes! We happily played with my 3-year-old daughter and had a great time! For those who want to relax and explore a new world with puzzles and adventures! I recommend trying this fun
