Hedera is a game of inconsistency, but of quality that far far FAR supercedes its issues. It is tonally inconsistent with moments of gameplay that toe the line between appropriately confusing and too hard for its own good, however the pure nightmare atmosphere and visceral terror more than make up for this. For what it is, it is executed excellently, not flawlessly. Its a game made by a single developer, a single storyteller, on person did it. I left the game feeling as though i witnessed the skin and bones of a true masterpiece of horror, one that is simply outside of the scope of a single developer, and as such its important to judge the game on merit of what it is and not what it could be with a triple A studio. Or, any studio. For what it is and what it set out to achieve, hedera is executed excellently and is worth multiple plays.

I do not understand this game. Honestly, it's beyond hard. I can't seem to escape the evil lipstick people because every door is closed and there are no hints or clues, or even anything telling you what to do. Her nightmares makes zero sense. Daytime makes zero sense because it seems that all she does is sleep. Maybe I'm just an idiot but I think there could be a lot of things to improve this game. I do like the idea, I do like the scary lipstick people. It is scary. It's a good idea but I can see why it's so cheap.

A very solid horror experience that's a bit dragged down by the messiness of it's finale given how many endings there are. At some points during the end my game seemed to be bugged as some actions would stick me in an endless loop with no credits as I lose further control, or how some events I see in other playthroughs don't occur for me and leave me stuck in other ways. Other than that however, this was a very good experience and I look forward to getting around to the creators next games.
