Heroes Must Die is the story of a young hero forcibly conscripted into the villain's army, and viewing classic RPG trials from this perspective. Faced with the daunting task of dealing with the world's evilest boss, stupidest minions, daringest freedom fighters, and troublesome-est posers, how do you survive a world where all sides are in conflict? Battle through hours of challenging combat (even we have to work hard to beat our own game), laugh out loud dialogue (but like, for real, not a 'lol'), and surprising story turns (seriously, a professional playwright wrote this game).
Heroes Must Die is an action-RPG with aesthetics inspired by the best roleplaying games of the 16 bit era, with the sophisticated story and design of modern epics. Follow a grand and fun story of trying to break the world and then save it. Combat is easy to learn and difficult to master. And best of all, it's free.

"Heroes Must Die" is a tongue-in-cheek satirical pixelcrap RPG, the developer tried to describe this as an ARPG but it's turn based... I think it would be a good idea if developers pass some kind of basic game understanding test before being allowed to burn $100 through Steam Direct. Anyway this is not great. It looks like an RPG Maker asset flip, but instead of taking the easy route they used Unity to recreate something that looks like an RPG Maker asset flip. Putting effort into failure. What do you do in the game? Mediocre turn based tactical combat punctuated by reams of high school anime club dropout cringefest fan-fiction "writing". You know that old axiom of game design, "Show, don't tell?" Because the developer here didn't. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Really fun satire game! Unfortunately, combat is a little too quick/twitchy for this old guy to keep up with so I didn't get very far, but I enjoyed what I go to experience none the less.
