Hexopods is a minimalist twin-stick arcade shooter that works best as a local multiplayer experience with friends, featuring various ships with unique abilities that add tactical depth to the fast-paced combat. Players appreciate the different game modes, tutorial, and modular gameplay options, but criticize the limited AI versus mode (one-on-one only), minimal graphics, lack of single-player content, and the feeling that it's a simple take on classic arcade concepts that could be found for free elsewhere.
A fun couch game to play with friends. Each ship has some special abilities that add a tactical layer to the frenetic base gameplay, turning the game into something more interesting and competitive than it appears at first look.4 found this helpful

Pros: + Twin Stick Shooter inspired by old-school arcade games + Innovating uses of King of the Hill and Power-Ups for a different experience + In-depth tutorial mode to help learn and master the game + Modular gameplay and a host of ships with different skills for each vessel Cons: – AI Versus is limited to one vs. one. – Sights is only a pixel bit and isn’t very efficient. ”Hexopods” is one of those games that’s best played together with friends. So if you can get at least three other people to play in one room, then you’ll have a good time slaying them in the arena. Furthermore, with the modular settings and innovating modes that the game offers, it’ll be a hex of a time. HEXOPODS is a minimalist line-drawing ripoff of "SpaceWar!" from the 1962. Player number is increased to 4, and the game has a number of maps with hard walls and multiplayer modes, otherwise it's little changed from the original video/oscilliscope game that they're unabashedly ripping off. Overall this is the kind of thing you can play for free in Flash. The graphics are very limited and lazy, there's no single player mode, and the multiplayer is flat because, well, it's SpaceWar! and it's been done a million times already before Bill Gates even thought about writing software. Why pay money for something you can play for free in Flash or emulators?1 found this helpful
