About HOST
Immerse yourself in an alien realm where the sights, sounds, and sensations that you experience all become clues for your survival. Touch a green glow and see its effects. Open a gateway to a new area.

Experience new rooms, and descend deeper. Level by level, tap into your gaming intuition to solve each puzzle. Who or what is the "host" and what is your relation to this space?

With a focus on experiential-based gameplay, Garrett Fuselier has created a virtual reality to challenge and cherish. The dim glow of the swelling visuals and the fluctuation of the atmospheric audio (all created solely with voice work) build a new kind of gaming experience that, like its narrative, grows in intrigue and innovation. Recalling the classic situation-based puzzles throughout gaming history, you will find no UI, no voice over, and no buttons to press (on your controller).
Inside the world of HOST, you are your only salvation.
The game will stay naturally within the confines of your environment. For the best immersive experience, change your Chaperone settings to be minimal and dark.
This game contains flashing lights that may make it unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitive conditions. Player discretion is advised.

The game's idea is good but for me, it is not fun enough to compensate for getting tired by its room scale boring interactions. As of the video and screenshots, the atmosphere seems to be intended as a colorful version of Lovecraft / Beksiński style, organic and creepy. However, the lighting is not that good, during VR gameplay the environment doesn't look as good as the screenshots, rather, seems darker and dull.6 found this helpful

Honestly I'm not sure what to make of this. The first time I played this I couldn't figure out what to do. There's a button that makes a weird sphincter open up, but when you walk through it, nothing happens. I contacted the dev and apparently I'm too tall and need to bend over when walking into the sphincter. I tried that, and it leads to another room where you need to push buttons, then bend over to walk through sphincters. After solving that it leads to another room with the same thing, then another, then another... Finally, there was a room where an item falls from a sky, and a tentacle destroys it before you can grab it. I couldn't figure out what to do here, so I quit. I was planning on quitting anyways, because all those low doors were killing my back. I really liked how it used the entire layout of my room to generate the pathways, meaning I never needed to teleport or walk into walls. However, while that makes a neat tech demo, there's not much else to recommend as a ga…1 found this helpful

HOST is a triumph of immersive VR. The game mechanics and imagery alone express the unique narrative and let us see deep into the creative's mind. A very inspiring and special experience.
Rad environment design and great use of small room-scale space. If you like short creepy puzzles, check this out. For the dev: I saw in the recommended settings "Additional Notes: For the best immersive experience, change your Chaperone settings to be minimal and dark." Would be nice to see this tip at the beginning of the game since I didn't think about it until most of the way through the game and it definitely helps the ambiance and atmosphere to see less play-space outlines.
great atmosphere. Kinda comforting.
