About Hyper Flux

Hyper Flux is a single-player speedrunning 3D platformer that puts you in control of a zero-gravity suit and a pair of orbs. Use your orbs to push and pull yourself through a broken world, where you speed through multiple planets before the world ends. Experience a comical story that starts with a bang, as you play as Elio, a tech-soldier who is tired of serving in the intergalactic war and after finally receiving his promised holiday, now has to complete his bucket list in this shattering world in just 24 hours.FEATURES:
  • You play as a tech-soldier who uses a zero-gravity suit to navigate shattered planets in 3D using momentum. Don't forget to manage your fuel though..
  •  Use push and pull orbs in zero-gravity to travel impossible distances super fast.
  • Compete for the best time by utilizing your tools cleverly.
  • Collect ingredients and upgrade your suit to achieve even faster times.

low budget neon white, except instead of sweatily holding w and aiming as precisely as possible for the perfect line there's a big focus on actual movement tech. overall the mechanics are fun, though the levels are quite simple and built with very low speeds in mind so if you figure out how to go fast you just kind of break all of them. the mechanics are also not that deep, though they're just fine for how short the game is and theoretically you can pull of some quite crazy stuff, and what is there makes for some really high inputs/second gameplay when trying to optimise. the game has secret medals that are like actually really hard which is great, as the leaderboards are so empty there's not much other competition. the only real critique I have is that since the mechanics are physics based it makes going for a good time feel pretty random, as you kind of just have to throw attempts at the wall until everything happens to line up perfectly. I'd say totally worth it for the low price, though interestingly the demo contains like 4/5 of the game? or at least did when I played it in next fest?

Has some pros and cons. The game can work when you're moving with momentum and flying around levels it can be fun. But the game has some gameplay issues. First, every level has a time limit, and instead of being optional, you need to medal in order to unlock the next level. They should have just had it so you can if you want. The pull and push orbs can be fun but are pretty finicky to use. You have to press jump to move quickly through a blue orb but if youre running and you press it at the wrong time it forces you to jump instead of move quickly through it. Other times the attact orbs won't attract while you use them while flying at a wall or falling down. Other times the repel will push you off to the side instead of up. Theres a low gravity ability you'll sometimes use as well. The main issue is on the last world. The final few levels are horribly designed, adding in instant disappearing objects that vanish after 1 second of putting down an orb OR touching them, meaning you need to be at perfect momentum to use them for a second. It also starts spacing them above and below and further apart, and adding instant death pits on top of it. Because of the finnicky mechanics it be…

having upgrades that increase speed in a game with an in game leaderboard is a huge turn off for people who want to compete on leaderboard and push themselves as they go along through the game it makes going for the upgrades feel like a chore and makes it unenjoyable

This game is interesting enough for anyone looking for a challenge. Once you understand and get a hang of the mechanics, it's pretty fun to play.

I'm not a fan of speed run games but damn this ♥♥♥♥ hits different. Also the comic like story panels are fire.
