Hyperspaced

Hyperspaced is a cooperative action roguelike developed by Rarebyte and published by Headup, available on Steam. The game combines arcade-style space combat with frantic ship management, creating a chaotic multiplayer experience where players must operate and maintain a single spaceship while navigating dangerous sectors of space. Rather than focusing solely on piloting or shooting, the game emphasizes teamwork and multitasking, forcing players to juggle navigation, combat, repairs, and survival simultaneously as they travel through unstable regions of the galaxy. The premise centers around a cosmic disaster that has thrown the universe into turmoil. Critical stabilizing devices known as “Great Plugs” have been stolen, causing the fabric of reality to unravel and forcing space routes into unstable hyperspace corridors. As members of an improvised rescue crew, players are tasked with retrieving these devices and restoring balance before entire sectors collapse. The story itself takes a lighthearted tone, serving primarily as a framework for the gameplay rather than a deeply narrative-driven experience. It's borderline, but I cannot recommend this when Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime exists, which is superior in every aspect. Sorry. The players stuck piloting has very little gameplay variation (unlike lovers with the different engine types). Some enemies feel impossible to dodge. You quickly get your ship full of modules and then the rest of the game feels more like finding side-grade with little gameplay impact. Ship upgrades are generic more damage, more health. The game doesn't heal at the end of a mission. But you can go back to base and then resume to get the heal. Waste of time.

As a big fan of party style couch games, this one unfortunately got boring very quickly, even in co-op. Just to slow and didn't present interesting enough gameplay when compared to something like Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime or Catastronauts.

Watching the chaos unfold as one tries to navigate through the minefields, the other defending against vessels chasing you, one trying to repair the damage with your ship burning and a broken window sucking out all the loot you desperately need for repairwork -- thats peak co-op fun. Great game for a co-op evening with your buddies!

Love it. Its a fun and accessable couch coop game. Perfect for steamdeck docked or steam machine. They also nailed the drop in / drop out multiplayer. There is no main player in this game. Everyone can leave or join whenever he likes.

Have almost forgotten about this little gem. I enjoyed it in early access back then, and I still enjoy it now with the full version. The split-screen where you steer the ship and weapons, but also repair and manage the cargo and other things is absolutely unique and it rocks. I wouldn't be surprised if this system pops up in other games. This is a great chaotic couch coop game in the sprit of Overcooked, but in space of course. I'm giving this 3 extraterrestrial thumbs up!
