Hypoxia - One Last Breath

Hypoxia - One Last Breath is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is your typical high school anime club dropout fanfiction, as usual featuring the authors imaginary girlfriends/waifus and with a rather poor post apocalypse/sci fi theme, but as usual most of this fanfiction is just cringe. The only notable thing going on here is someone dug up a copy of Visual Novel Maker instead of using the usual Ren'Py construction kit to wrap around the highschool dropout writing. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that t…

The writing feels like it's trying but it all just falls flat. Characters act very unnaturally/creepily according to the events and dialogue presented. With occasional dumbfounding lines leaving me stuck between confusion and cringing. It comes across as tone deaf and relies too much on outside sentiment for it's turning point scenes. I feel like it could have gone in a lot more interesting directions with the setting it presented.

Управление порой кажется немного неуклюжим, а некоторые головоломки – излишне запутанными. Тем не менее, атмосферность и напряженность с лихвой компенсируют эти недостатки. Любителям подводных хорроров и игр на выживание определенно стоит попробовать. Это уникальный и запоминающийся опыт.
