I thought I knew you

i was disconnected, so this doesn’t reflect my actual playtime! there are two routes available at first, and playing them unlocks a third one. my favourite was Midoriko’s. i love her grand/shakespearean/dramatic way of speaking. it reminds me of Don Quixote :) i could also relate to her a lot. even though each route is on the short side, i felt hers had the most natural shift, because really all she needed was for someone to listen. Suiren wanted a place to escape to and cope with the hollowness in her heart, but that’s something no “saviour” can fulfill. she needs to find her own meaning of love and heal, which the length of the VN doesn’t really allow for, so I think it’s a good thing that it didn’t end with her continuing to lie to herself. while MC is out there solving everyone else’s problems and making the two girls feel “seen”, the last route wants to show that there’s someone who “sees her”. personally, i didn’t like Aoya’s route at all, and I would’ve been fine with the first two routes only... her “good ending” didn’t feel good at all. it felt more like MC clinging onto someone who she thinks finally understood her, making drastic declarations of love despite not even …

(Note: My hour count here consists of some amount of accidental AFK hours.) A great, quick story that you can read end-to-end in one afternoon, all routes and endings (which, I greatly recommend exploring all routes and ends. The game is short enough to allow this to be an easy endeavor, and it is worthwhile content; worthwhile writing). Despite how short this VN runs, the dialogue and characters deliver a very effective amount of charm and personality. I found each of the three characters very endearing (Midoriko is my favorite. I did tear up a little.), and the quality of the writing, as well as the translation, was great. I hesitate to say that last part, because it was disclosed that the game uses refined MTL output for the translation, which I broadly and rather strongly dislike, but I have to concede and say that, this time, it was a very satisfactory reading experience, and sounded almost like native English. Given the small scope of this VN, focusing on such negativity is a waste of time, and a shame, so that's my last word on that for now. Suiren Route WTF???

Bought this mainly for the lovely art style, and the price is very accessible. It’s definitely on the shorter side—keep your expectations in check regarding the pacing and budget, but for what it aims to be, it’s quite decent. The soundtrack is genuinely pleasant, though the sound design suffers from frequent "dead air." The awkward silences between scenes break the immersion a bit; having more transitional tracks or subtle ambient sounds would smooth out the flow significantly. Overall, a charming little experience that's well worth the modest asking price. If the developers expand on this with a longer project in the future, I’ll gladly support it!

Cute and fun, great characters and great story and I enjoyed searching for all the endings, 1000% recommend
