In a luxurious hotel room in Rome, freshly arrived from Turin, Carlo awaits for his lover Patrick to arrive. However, as the shadow of fascism looms ever larger, the tension of meeting in constant hiding is beginning to take its toll.
Lady Winterbourne has lost her husband in a tragic accident. Now letters from pretenders to her vast fortune keep arriving every day at her mansion, yet the only thing she's interested in is the bottle of laudanum in her cabinet.
Harassed, ridiculed and belittled by his peers, Dr. Jordan Samuels has resorted to the occult sciences in a desperate attempt to turn the tables on his tormentors. But is he truly ready to face the Guardian of the Threshold?

Exceptionally charming little game. Saw a gif on Pinterest by chance and a commenter mentioned where the animation was from, so here I am a few hours later, having completed it. I love the pixel art style and the care put into the animations. Story is great--the first act physically shocked me, did not see it coming at all! All round great experience. It's not a game. It's a story with "game" on top. And not a very good one, sorry.
This really is a masterpiece of a game, seriously, super well made. The pixel art, the music, all comes together to convey the deep emotions of the characters. The stories of each character have depth and soul that portray the depressing and dark realities of the characters and their dire situations. Would heavily recommend this to anyone looking for a short story driven game that really moves and messes with your feelings and emotions.

Beautiful, eerie, dark, poignant. Like many others, I find it unbelievable that this game is offered for free.
