Operation method
Compatible with gamepads and keyboards.
- Shot: An attack that can be shot without restrictions.
Pad: A button / Keyboard: Z key - Spell: An attack that consumes and shoots a spell gauge.
Pad: X button / Keyboard: X key - Fever: Fever will be invincible as long as the remaining time allows and the shot will be strengthened.
Pad: R1 button / Keyboard: L-Shift key - Pose: Pause the game.
Pad: Start button / Keyboard: ESC key
* Key assignment can be changed with the key config.
Shot
It's a low-powered attack instead of shooting without limits.
- Straight shot
Simple shot 1, attack range is a little narrow.
When combined with high speed, it can cover the narrow range to some extent.
- Wide shot
Simple shot 2, perfect for clearing Zako.
The power when hitting all is the same as straight.
- Rolling shot
It can cover all directions, but ...
The power when hitting all the shots is the highest, but the use at the bottom of the screen is very poor ...

Spell
It's a powerful attack that consumes energy and releases it.
Energy will recover to 100% in 2 to 3 seconds, so use it sparingly.
You can check the energy with the gauge around your ship.
- Blue: 100%, Spell available.
- Green: Less than 100%, Spell available.
- Red: Spell disabled.
- Bomb
High-powered bullet that explodes when touched.
When it explodes, the attack range expands over a wide area.
- Thunder
Fires a penetrating attack in a straight line with the nearest enemy.
- Kaihou
Tracking laser.
Chase and wipe out enemies for a certain period of time.
Fever
Super important system for capture.
When you activate Fever.
Your ship becomes invincible and your shots are super-powered up.
Even if it hits an enemy bullet, it will not make a mistake and will eliminate the touched enemy bullet.
* Even if it hits the laser, it will not be a mistake, but it cannot be extinguished.
You can check the usable time in the fever time on the upper left of the screen.
Fever time increases by acquiring peach items.

Goes incredibly hard. English translation can be a bit rough and I am pretty confident the "function" key just straight up isn't bound on keyboard, but otherwise rules. I'm more of a casual SHMUP enjoyer and the presentation, soundtrack, and general of this feel is super explosive. The FEVER mechanic is pretty simple but reveals itself to have many unique and fun applications. Some attacks and situations definitely require memorization though and will just sorta deck you immediately if you aren't prepared, especially the Okuu fight. "hidden gem" does not begin to describe this game. ikusaaaaaaan! is, at its core, a shoot' em up power fantasy. the enemies are incredibly fast and powerful, and they fill the screen with bullets. but so are you. the soundtrack is absolutely incredible, the bullet patterns are fun to learn. the fever mechanic feels like it should trivialize everything, but instead it becomes a game about timing and resource management. the way things are synced to the music is unbelievably satisfying. the way your fever duration ramps up along with the music and the enemy difficulty throughout each level, culminating into extremely dense patterns that you end up powering through with fever. the way you only get to play the song's (and the level's) climax if you manage to fulfill the secret unlock conditions. the completely absurd over-the-top level transitions with broken english text. but mostly, the chills you get when you perfectly dodge the level's hardest pattern by timing your fever uses to the electric guitar that's absolutely SHREDDING through some of the best tracks touhou has to offer.1 found this helpful

crack cocaine the video game
genuinely one of my favorite touhou fangames. It subverts a ton of shmup traditions while maintaining the tightly-packed, expertly designed gameplay that makes the genre so appealing. Everything from the mechanics to the music to the danmaku works together to make the experience flow like a river's rapid currents. Definitely worth trying for any Touhou or shmup fan.
THIS GAME IS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ INSANE. Actually an amazing hidden gem that any shmup fan NEEDS to have in their library.
