About Immortelle
Immortelle is an abstract and figurative non-game artwork that illustrates the flights and falls of psychological endurance. It is a personal story told through the paintbrush of Virtual Reality in a fast-paced flux of sound and visual fragments.
Warning: Contains some flashing lights and quick camera movement and transitions which may not be suitable for photosensitive people.
THE TRIP
Contemplate changes of scenes and seasons, pave through evocative empty structures, wade through waves and mountain peaks, and encounter a presence in a vacuum. At times deep, at times shattering, at times peaceful - Immortelle traces the unpredictable range of our own emotions.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Line Katcho is a composer and audiovisual artist primarily interested in sound and image as demonstrations of kinetic matter. Immortelle XR is adapted from a live performance that was received with a standing ovation for its premiere at MUTEK electronic music Festival in Montréal, 2018.

It is a great experience! Mesmerizing landscapes and visuals. Great music that becomes very heavy at some point. There's a moment where some leaves appears over your hands at each keystroke in the music. I loved that! The experience overall is very cathartic. It's an audio-visual performance piece consisting of music and visuals. Illustrates humans rebuilding natural and constructed landscapes, digitally from our perspective. Lines form patterns, pulsating sounds form music and visuals spiral into movement, all manipulating the viewer's perceptions. It has on-the-rails locomotion which I would like to say is about 'us insisting the landscape moves', instead of 'us having to move around in the landscape'...but, somehow, I just think it is a limitation of creating a VR version of a flat screen video. Eventually, there is a descent into tunnel vision and decay.1 found this helpful

Immortelle was my favorite VR experience ! It offers a 12 minutes immersive journey through Line Katcho's world of 3D creations and music. Immortelle feels like a race that blends architectural elements with landscape, sometimes verging on the absurd, and alternates between peaceful and apocalyptic atmospheres. I recommend it to everyone interested in digital art and music !1 found this helpful
