Immunity Wars

8.5/10 TBS in the setting of immune cells fighting bacteria TLDR: An interesting turn-based strategy with novel mechanics and abilities that (I guess) replicate real behaviors of cells in human organism. E.g. there is a cell that gobbles up a bacterium, brings it to the special tile where it then converts to another cell. And that cell can now boost your "tank" cells and finally convert itself to an attack cell. Yep, maybe it's a bit too convoluted still. Good: - free - mechanics are interesting once you've understood them - graphics look nice and cheerful - music is upbeat as well. It may even give this game a simpler feel than it actually is - funny sound effects - I guess there is an educational effect here if you read those descriptions of the cells. Though, as a non-native speaker of English, I had a hard time. Thankfully, the new cells are introduced gradually, so you can learn what they do just by action So-so: - movement orders are given when you press the left mouse button, not when you release it. very good game but can take a while is not popular (although it should be) so no tutorials on youtube also don't google how to beat listeria bacteria i have tried

good game style is inspired by kurzgesagt (which means in a nutshell in German I think) can get hard but bug allows to go to the next stage

"Immunity Wars" is a student project from University of Utah, in Utah (obviously). Great place to be a Mormon, apparently. One of the first things students should be taught in game development is that 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid 1990's with dedicated 3D cards like the Voodoo3 and the ATI Rage. But the students were deliberately mistaught that's it's okay to release obsolete 2D games in the 3D era of gaming... certainly any professional developer seeing a prospective new hire who doesn't even know about 3D gaming probably isn't going to give them a job. Needless to say if an educational institution taught me incorrectly on purpose, I'd ask for my money back. The students made a rather poor and unengaging hex based strategy game about microbes and internal biology. Just what I wanted for my birthday! (Utah joke there). We also have to question what value there is for gamers on Steam when institutions flood the store with low quality 2D video game homework assignments... sure, it might make the students feel good about themselves, but this has no benefit for gamers who have to wade through this stuff to find professionally made 3D games. Awesome Well made game. Cant stop Playing! Cancer nearly unbeatable tho always builds up in the head. Guess its realistic?
