Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves is a distinctive hybrid of action, strategy, tower defense, and light role-playing that builds its identity around preparation rather than brute strength. Set against a supernatural vision of 19th-century Canada, it follows two estranged O’Carroll brothers who must put their disagreements aside when their sister becomes the target of the Devil. Sang Froid Tales of Werewolves is a game I did not really know what to expect from at first, because it mixes together a few things that normally would not be put in the same game. I am playing as one of two brothers in 19th century Canada, trying to protect my sister from werewolves and other creatures while also dealing with the Devil. During the day I get time to prepare the forest, place traps and decide how I want the coming night to play out. When night arrives, the game turns into a much more active fight where I have to hunt the creatures and deal with anything that gets through my setup. That combination is what makes it stand out to me. The trap system is easily my favourite part. I am not simply waiting for enemies to appear and then attacking them. I can place different traps around the forest, use bait to lure enemies towards them and take advantage of the way they move through the area. I also have to think about fear, which can be used to scare enemies and change how they behave. I really like having this planning stage because it makes me feel like I am preparing an actual hunt rather than just walking into another fight. When a setup works exactly how I planned, i…

Great game, very well made. Would like to have to more game modes. Having to run back and forth (or zipline) just to deal with a couple of mobs or will-o-wisps made it feel more like a micro-management tower defense game which took away from raw action and trap defense based survival atmosphere it creates but it's more like a bad shoe than than rock in your boot in that it's there but easily forgettable. :P

If I recall.. this game was perfectly mid.. not sure why I never finished it.

Nice and relaxing tower defense style game I've never seen before. I would call it a hidden gem.
