Introvert Quest is the kind of independent RPG that immediately distinguishes itself through its premise alone. Developed and published by Amaterasu Software, the game abandons fantasy kingdoms and world-ending threats in favor of something far more grounded: the everyday struggles of an introverted young man trying to function in society. Set in the bustling Sky City, the story follows Bryce Han, a recluse who has spent much of his life avoiding social interaction. Concerned about his isolated lifestyle, his family arranges for him to undergo a four-day therapy program designed to push him beyond the safety of his home. What follows is an adventure that turns routine tasks into significant milestones, creating an experience that is equal parts humorous, relatable, and surprisingly sincere. The game's strongest quality is its commitment to its central idea. Activities such as shopping, speaking with strangers, applying for work, and making acquaintances are treated with the same importance that traditional RPGs reserve for heroic quests. Don't bother

I don’t get to write often about projects using RPG Maker assets because frankly, it’s getting hard for me to differentiate between dozens of similarly looking titles using flimsy plotlines filled to the brim with clichés. And then I set my eyes upon Introvert Quest and suddenly I was intrigued. Social commentary in this particular game type? Yes, developer Amaterasu Software has once again released a 2D “classic” JRPG that defies what was once standard for this subgenre. The dev team has some noticeable experience and judging by their previous (and future) Steam projects, they certainly learn from their own mistakes.
