Such a pity. Wasted potential.4 found this helpful
I reallllly wanted to like this game. I first saw this game and thought it looked super fun. Upon playing it, it was SO confusing and I was so disappointed. When done correctly pixel graphic games are very visually pleasing to me and so cute to play. But this game...the controls were confusing, the story was confusing. I read a review also here (Which I had read before deciding to purchase the game) that said the dev said the story was incomplete which really makes sense, because I don't understand what is going on at all in the game. I hate to say this, but I would really suggest not purchasing this game (Please don't) and looking into so many other games that have the label RPG and pixel graphics style and are beautiful AND have the story most who plays these type of games are looking for. note: This is no hate to the game, or the devs at all, I just want others to not be disappointed as I was.2 found this helpful
Recommening that, with a lot of buts. Pros: + Real-time Combat itself is incredibly great - using buffs, debuffs and ailments is mandatory to get through + Lots of comboing opportunities due to that, quite challenging (with a special opportunity in lovlevel-runs to set things straight) + Walking through Dungeons feels refreshing due to some puzzles in them,=> not headache-inducing! + Approach of Open World is fine as is + looks good or a retro RPG, with a lot of work put in animations and immersion Cons: - sadly, Vote Friend/Foe is a big issue, hard to figure out due to the nature of the characters / and it was definitely not what it was advertised like - speaking of the characters - most of them behave in a rather erratic way, making the hard to comprehend - the story is okay, but not quite thought through - and even if, there are a lot of open ends In short: It's not as bad as it looks like. One can work with the somewhat weird storyline and the erratic characters, but it's the combat wher JC starts to shine brightly.
It tries something different, but also confuses gamers by looking like something that’s not. The game’s engine and UI comes with limitations and frustrations. Because there are no settings, bringing the game to full screen is done using the "ESC" key. Full screen, on the other hand, affects the help screen and displays only a black screen. Help will show you all of the available buttons and what they do. If you wish to refresh your memory, you’ll have to turn the game to window mode. Another weird decision is that you can review help only from the main menu. What's worse, once you're in the game, you can't get back to the main menu. And the final annoyance is that settings aren’t saved. Full screen and battle speed will have to be changed every time you launch a game. Depending in which part of the world you live, you’ll have to take some extra steps to get an enjoyable experience. I'm referring to the "Y" and "Z" buttons on some keyboards being swapped. While it is possible to play with a controller, you will be lost because you will not be familiar with the button arrangement. Some buttons, such as the run button, are also missing from gamepad. The game plays like a traditio…
