INVERT: The Climb

Invert the climb is a foddian game with normal platformer control where the difficulty comes from switching the platform that are on screen. You have to switch them fast enough for wall jump, and also remember where they are for normal jump since there is no indication anywhere. This makes the map a little hard to remember when falling honestly which make some fall punishing. However, it is fairly short and i beat it in around 30 minutes. This is a maybe recommendation for me, on one hand, i haven't seen this concept on other foddian games but on the other hand as mentionned, it is really short, and require an achievement to finish 69 times which is really grindy.

INVERT: The Climb is one of those platformers that manages to make a very simple idea feel incredibly stressful. My goal is basically to climb toward the moon, but there are no checkpoints and falling can send me all the way back down. I liked that the game wastes no time explaining what I am supposed to do. It simply gives me a difficult climb and lets me discover how far I can get. The basic platforming controls are simple, but the level design makes them much harder to master. I have to judge every jump carefully because a small mistake can cost me a huge amount of progress. I enjoyed learning the layout through repeated attempts because every successful section feels like something I have genuinely earned rather than something the game has handed to me. The inversion mechanic is easily the most interesting idea in the game. I can flip the map to reveal new paths, but doing so also removes the platforms I was previously using. I really liked this because it turns the environment itself into a puzzle. I cannot simply keep moving upward. Rating: 3/10 Invert is a puzzling mess of an indie game that’s more frustrating than engaging. The core mechanic, where you switch between different perspectives to solve puzzles, feels gimmicky and quickly becomes tedious. The puzzles lack depth, relying on trial and error rather than creative problem-solving. The controls are stiff, and the level design feels like it’s trying too hard to be clever but ends up being confusing. The minimalist art style could’ve worked, but it feels lifeless and doesn’t make up for the lackluster gameplay. The soundtrack is forgettable at best.
