I like it quite a bit but cannot in good conscience recommend it, mostly because a better version called Jamestown+ is available. The positives are an original steampunk setting, pretty pixel graphics, up to 4 player coop mode and very precise controls. Picking up those cogs when enemies explode is fun... and dangerous. The limited-time shield adds strategy. However, the negatives are a short campaign, frustrating progression system and that newer, better version available with two more levels and extra improvements. To challenge the fourth level, you need to replay and beat the three previous ones at a higher difficulty level (Difficult). To unlock the fifth and last level, you need to replay and beat the previous four levels at a higher difficulty level (Legendary). If you even manage to do that, which most people won't, the last level is very tough with moving blocks, and the final boss has two different phases. I barely managed to beat his first phase and gave up on the second. So this is a good abeit frustrating shoot 'em up, but you're better off getting Jamestown+ when it's at least 50% off.17 found this helpful

Really great "bullet hell" top-down shooter, with excellent art, music, and writing. Only downside is that it's quite short.
We had a lot of fun playing this game with kids. Except for the last map, that one is quite impossible to do...
SHMUP for beginners. Tutorial tells you how to play. Simple and easy. Controller works great. Keyboard works great. Mouse only is frustrating. Music is awesome. In order to advance to Stage 4 and 5, you need to complete the previous levels on high difficulties. Final stage is tough and you have to go through two bosses. Story is told through cutscenes, but you don't need to know anything important. It's a SHMUP. Score: 9 out of 10. Graphics are nice and pretty. You only get two credits per stage, so do your best to dodge all them bullets. There's no freeplay, so git gud. Buy Jamestown+ since it's an upgrade.
Fun game to pick up quick.
