Junk Blocks is a Tetris styled puzzle game where you must score as many points as possible within a limited time by eliminating blocks. Points are awarded and extra time is given for eliminating complete rows or columns from an 8x8 grid, and the game is over if you run out of time or there is no room to place your tiles. Tiles are geometric shapes, much akin to what you would see in Tetris and can be rotated before being placed. There is also an undo button on your last move. Junk tiles are tiles with pictures on, and three of the same pictures must be connected for these tiles to disappear. It’s the kind of design that immediately feels intuitive, requiring almost no onboarding before you understand what’s expected. Yet the twist comes in the form of obstructive junk pieces that can’t simply be cleared through standard placement, forcing players to think a bit more carefully about how they manage space and plan ahead. The early moments are where the game feels most effective. There’s a smooth, almost meditative rhythm to placing blocks, watching rows disappear, and gradually building up a score. The controls are responsive and uncomplicated, reinforcing the idea that this is meant to be a relaxing experience rather than a stressful one. The inclusion of a forgiving undo option further enhances that tone, giving players the freedom to experiment without immediately being punished for missteps. It encourages a kind of t…1 found this helpful
