Just Beat Em Up : World of Fury

All the problems of an actual beat'em up from 30 years ago. Uncertain hit boxes, laggy controls, undodgeable ennemy attacks, enemies out of the screen that still pull off a blitz attack, it's ridiculous. Also no variety in available moves, repetitive gameplay, no dash, no doge nor guard nor any defense, no special moves, and a pretty poor fury mode. Full points for actual retro gaming, no points for efforts at a decent gameplay. Was this game even play-tested?

Gameplay is reminiscent of classic beat em ups such as Final Fight and Streets of Rage. There also gameplay mechanics taken from Golden Axe (Fury Release move and charging attack). Pros: - The music is a standout feature for this game. Nice Techno sound track and boss fight music is good. - Family Friendly when compared to similar titles such as Fight N' Rage and Mother Russia Bleeds. - Good sized character sprites (players and enemies) - More forgiving in difficulty than classic games of the genre (at least initially) - Good variety of game modes - Responsive controls, feels smooth Cons: - Sound effects are lacking, don't really stand out. - Hit detection is not the greatest. Punches are ok but kicking (especially the "charged" kick) can be problematic to execute. - Weapons disappear (break) after only a few uses - Somewhat lacking in special moves and variety of attacks - English narrative is not the greatest - Enemies and environments feel somewhat generic and repetitive. - No online coop (local only). Conclusion: Overall a good classic fighting clone worth getting, although I'd wait for a sale.

It's actually a good game, but in the last level there are a lot of enemies, which means you lose 3-4 lives bevor the elevator. Then you somehow survive the elevator and it feels like 300 enemies come again. By the time you get to the second to last boss you only have 1-2 lives left and no chance at all. You can buy it only the last level is crap

I REALLY hate to say this BUT I have to give this a thumbs down. Ive had it for a while and decided to sit down and smash through and then I hit the STAGE 2 bug (Crashed 8 times before I finally uninstalled). I tried comparability modes along with many other troubleshooting techniques. So while this game is broken for me it is a NO GO!

A surprisingly fun, retro-style Beat-em-up. It's worth the sale price for the nods to 80s pop culture.
