About K3LVN

K3LVN is a sci-fi action platformer where the player is a creature who’s been experimented on and is trying to escape the space station lab where they’re being kept. K3LVN is able to change their state of matter to alter their behavior. The three states usable are the Gel state which is the default bipedal state, the Liquid state which makes K3LVN smaller and grants the ability to climb on certain walls, and the Solid State, which turns K3LVN into a ball to roll around and gain momentum. They must use these abilities in combination with each other to traverse the environment as quickly as possible.

K3LVN was developed by RNG Forge, a group of students at Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA), over the course of eight months.

Key Features:
  • Play as K3LVN and master his ability to change his state of matter
  • Roll around the environment and gain momentum as a icy, solid ball
  • Run and wall jump as a slimy, bipedal experiment
  • Morph to your surrounds, climb walls, and squeeze through tiny gaps as a liquid blob
  • Test your wits in a series of puzzles that require quick thinking and even quicker reflexes
  • Enjoy a somber story about trust and understanding
  • Take in a beautiful art style with wonderfully rendered characters and breath-taking scenery

"K3LVN" is a student project from the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy, and I'm not really sure the students passed this year. The assignment for the year was to make a pretty mediocre third person puzzle platformer with some phase changing mechanics... overall this project lacks polish, it's quite clunky and the graphics are equally a bit hard on the eyes. I mean, at least it's not pixelcrud, but approaching the "bare minimum" quality level and still not reaching it doesn't win any prizes. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this …

Ambitious student game with gorgeous art and a fantastic story. The game does have some flaws but it did not take away from the unique mechanics and interesting gameplay!

Short, sweet and challenging! The platforming and mechanics were really interesting and actually challenging so it kept me engaged quite a bit. I loved the sci-fi art direction and loved getting distracted to walk around and explore! Such a fun experience I wish there was more to check out! A marvelous first showing by everyone at RNG <3

Another great game from FIEA students! I got through the game in about an hour, and while there were some bugs, overall the gameplay was good and kept me interested. The art, effects and story were very well done.
