Kasama: The Awakening is a really charming little adventure that I found surprisingly easy to get absorbed in. I play as Orion, a spirit warrior travelling through the dreamworld of Kastania, and the whole setting has this lovely mixture of peaceful fantasy and darker dream imagery. I liked how quickly the game creates a sense that something is wrong without making the world feel completely bleak. The main gameplay is focused on exploration and discovering what happened to the stolen magical chestnuts that keep the Kasamas alive. I move through floating forests, forgotten ruins and dreamlike locations while looking for clues and interacting with the world. I enjoyed this slower approach because it gives me time to actually look at the environments and take in the little details instead of constantly rushing toward the next objective. The story is easily the main reason I kept playing. The Kasamas are dream avatars connected to the human soul, and the game builds its mythology around the mysterious beings who protect sleep, dreams and awakening.
