Katanaut is a fast-paced, Metroidvania-inspired action roguelite set aboard a massive space station falling into cosmic chaos. With the station slowly spiraling out of control, and its once-human inhabitants twisted into terrors, you’re the unlucky one tasked with uncovering what is going on... assuming you’re able to survive the station's violent halls with souls-like combat.As Naut, you explore the corridors of this once vibrant station... or what's left of it. [h1]Update after clearing final difficulty[/h1] That was quite the challenge and I think worth it overall once I found my ideal build. It does bring up that same issue I mentioned before were some abilities are seemingly straight butt no matter what you do. Single hit high cost abilities are very low worth. I ended up clearing with the plague ground or whatever that poisons in a giant AOE and you can stack it with the blade that lets you spam abilities, along with the shadow blade that rotates around you for low cost AOE clear. Supposedly there is a lifesteal ability that I never got around to unlocking but that would be nice. [h1] Original Review [/h1] A pretty decent roguelite all things considered. I see some reviews calling it a metroidvania but it is not a metroidvania in any way, I suppose because it's 2D and the maps you load into have some altering paths. It is not a metroidvania though, it is a roguelite through and through. Get your upgrades, get a lucky path that you can take in your build to start becoming ridiculously OP, and then push your luck for extreme upgrades to help you explode bosses. Very fun, love cosmic horror.
What else is there to say. This is a fast as hell metroidvania! Every run feels slightly different. I enjoy my time so far.
