About Keyboard Soldier
Survive the Undead Onslaught with the Power of Words!

In this thrilling action-survival game, you find yourself in a forest under siege by relentless zombies. But these aren't just any zombies—they are fueled by words. To fend off the undead, you'll need to type the words displayed above their heads. Each correct letter sends a bullet flying, and completing the word takes down the enemy. The words vary in difficulty, becoming more challenging as you progress through the stages.
Level Up and Equip Powerful Items:
As you eliminate enemies, you'll gain experience and level up. With each level, choose from a selection of common, rare, or legendary items to enhance your survival chances. Strategize your loadout with powerful items that can dramatically impact the outcome of the game, helping you survive longer against increasingly difficult waves of zombies.
Master the Art of Survival:

Explore three unique maps, each with its own difficulty curve, as you fight to survive wave after wave of undead. Face off against four different types of enemies:
Harness Special Words and Combos:
Use special word types to gain advantages in battle:
Build up your combo bar by typing accurately, multiplying your score as you chain together correct words. Be careful—one mistake can reset your combo and cost you valuable points. Certain rare and legendary items interact with the combo bar, adding even more strategic depth to the gameplay.
Visit the Shop for Strategic Upgrades:
Earn gold by defeating zombies and use it in the shop to fortify your defenses. Purchase barricades to block enemy advances, mines to decimate groups of zombies, mud to slow them down, and torches to light up the night. Careful management of your resources can make the difference between life and death, especially when darkness falls and the zombies become even more dangerous.
Climb the Leaderboards:
Test your typing skills and survival instincts as you aim to last as long as possible. Your performance will be ranked on global leaderboards based on your score and typing accuracy. Will you rise to the top and prove your mastery of words and survival?
Key Features:
Can you survive the zombie apocalypse using only your wits and your words? The undead are waiting...

fend off zombies by typing words above their head and compare your score to random people on the leaderboard if you want. there's a how to play section called tutorial for some reason, which it isn't. a single typo breaks the combo, yellow words give more gold, blue ones freeze foes, purples get rid of 3 baddies. level up means choosing a helpful perk, the shop, appearing every few days, lets you buy and upgrade items like barricades and mines. the environment changes after every 10 days, that's neat. night only happens after every few days, but then lasts several days too, bit weird. canned tomato soup is used to unlock character skins, I think one's awarded for every 1k points at the end. it's a simple affair, not necessarily a bad thing, but there are some bigger and smaller issues, such as:

the game doesn't save on exit, not even a warning or confirmation when going back to the menu.
no difficulty settings and instead of providing some, the dev just upped the overall difficulty in every aspect recently, very accommodating.
the only available font is not the best, easy to confuse i and l, for instance.
no need to press enter but can't escape a word you st…4 found this helpful
"Keyboard Soldier" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. This is an asset flip of a bunch of Synty Studios Poly Pack assets, looks like the zombie/post apocalyptic one and a couple of others. They've been arranged into a simple typing game where you "shoot" zombies by typing the words above your head, so you can do wave survival gameplay coupled with the opposite-of-fun that is typing drills. Yawn. At least some effort went into rearranging Synty's assets into some kind of game, but regardless, asset flipping is a serious problem that gamers have to put up with. But hey, if you think that asset flipping like what is happening here is bad, wait until that gets replaced with the onslaught of AI slop we're starting to see from all these amateur developers. So, the game might look better than you'd expect from an amateur pro…1 found this helpful
Felky Fun Meter

|--------|--| [8/10] Very fun!
Very satisfying typing game! The roguelike elements are fun to play around with too :D Only thing that I didn't like was the fact that you are not only asked to type real words but also actual gibberish mixing letters and numbers randomly. It feels very annoying to have to type stuff like tngjt or zhtns or 6x2p0 after a serie of real words and it makes the game really less fun. Also very disappointing for a typing game to not have AZERTY/QWERTY choices in the options I had to remap my entire keyboard with an external software :| (and no changing the layout in Windows doesn't work you can't press "M" for exemple)1 found this helpful
I don't like the randomness of the store. I made it to level 26, the last time I got offered a store before the level started was level 18. Still too many random letter/number mixes that you get overwhelmed that you cannot keep up. I got the atomic power one time, even though it is supposed to pop up randomly after you activate it. This game is made for you to struggle, and it gets repetitive starting from level one with no powerups.1 found this helpful
