[h1] Plays a bit like chess where you move pieces and try to overtake the pharaoh in this case. Each turn laser shots from designated spots and you have to place mirrors so they can destroy opponent pieces. You can move any piece by one tile in 4 directions or rotate it so the laser reflect somewhere else. Easy to win with CPU on medium, not sure about other difficulties. Khet 2.0 scratched an itch I didn't know I had — it's chess with lasers, and that combination is as satisfying as it sounds. The rules click into place within a couple of games, but the depth sneaks up on you; I've already killed my own pharaoh more than once by setting up what I thought was a clever trap. The different starting layouts (Classic, Dynasty, Imhotep) keep things fresh, and the AI on higher difficulties will punish obvious mistakes even if it won't give seasoned players a serious long-term challenge. If you grab it on sale and pick up the Eye of Horus DLC at the same time, you're getting a genuinely compelling abstract strategy game that fans of chess or Go will appreciate. Recommended, especially for anyone who wants something brainy but faster-paced than a full chess session.

I enjoy strategy games. I try to plan my moves but am surprised how often my opponent sees something that I missed or how enjoyable it is when I see a multi bounce strike. Some games, defense is what wins and other games offense wins. The different layouts mean I don't get bored with one platform. The Beam splitters also add more of a challenge. I had the original board game but could not always find an opponent. Now, I can play the computer or online anytime I need a fun challange.

The only chess game with a paid DLC to unlock a new chess piece. Stay classy, Khet.
