Kings and Pigs is a 2D pixel-art platformer developed and published by Piece Of Voxel that embraces a lighthearted fantasy premise built around a comical conflict between royalty and rebellious swine. Players step into the role of a king whose lands have been overtaken by mischievous pigs that have plundered treasure and disrupted the peace of the kingdom. Framed as a whimsical quest for restitution, the game sends players across a series of side-scrolling levels to reclaim stolen riches and restore order. While the narrative setup is simple and intentionally playful, it provides a clear motivation that carries the player from stage to stage. The gameplay follows traditional platforming conventions. Movement revolves around running, jumping, and attacking while navigating horizontally structured levels filled with enemies and environmental hazards. Combat is straightforward, relying on basic attacks to defeat pig adversaries and other obstacles encountered along the way. The mechanics are easy to grasp, making the game accessible to newcomers and casual players. However, the simplicity of the control scheme also means that the overall gameplay depth remains limited. Feels like someone who wanted to do something decent, but stopped midway and just ended up putting together some rubbish, because they got disinterested but wanted to get something out of it for their invested effort: Bugged physics, mushy jumping mechanic, bad boss fights, repeated level structures again and again, .... Doesnt handle 16:10 screens well, it just crops wrongly left and right. Just dont friggin bother. Im on a quest of at least trying every game in my library, of which I got plenty from all kinds of bundles. If you are interested in my journey, check out my other reviews :)

Wasn't a bad game but the last three levels genuinely hurt my eyes and that last level is so annoying needs like a check point before the final boss so you dont need to go through the level again

this is one of those platformers where you have a lot of momentum as you move. While that's more "realistic" and does allow some extra skill, it's kind of annoying if you just want some casual fun. Also, the level design is pretty bad, lots of hidden paths meaning you basically have to try every possible wall in case that's how you have to proceed to finish the level. That's right the hidden paths are not bonus areas, but mandatory. Graphics are good, but nowhere near enough to overcome the mediocre game-play that is often kind of punishing and requires a lot of replaying a level because you missed a single jump. it's not a bad game exactly, but definitely not a good one.

Alright, for once, I kinda liked a Piece of Voxel game.. It would have a positive review but price is too high (once again), control are kind of wacky, sound&music could be way better. Little details that just make it worse..
