Knights (2026)

I stumbled upon this game back in 2012, long before its Steam release, and I am still fond of it. At the time, it had tiny but devoted community and we spent many years playing weekly games. Although this is not a type of a game to spend dozens of hours every week, it is really nice to launch once in a while, especially if you have found someone to play with, and the "Random Quest" button makes every round feel a bit different :) I especially recommend trying out the Wand of Securing for team deathmatches, and Tome of Gnomes for solo play. P.S. The official forum also had some player-made mods adding new mobs, wands and quest types, thus I hope for the Steam Workshop integration to be implemented eventually, so that they can be brought back.

This is very close to the original Amiga game and hours of fun - I play with my son (split screen, with cardboard between us) and he also likes to play all alone.

Gosh, my brother would destroy me at this game some 32 years ago. Incredible to see it back. Feel free to add me for multiplayer!

Knights is a pretty interesting old school multiplayer game, especially because it does not try to make the idea more complicated than it needs to be. I am dropped into randomly generated dungeons with other knights and the main goal is to complete a quest before the others do. Along the way I have to deal with zombies, vampire bats and other knights, so exploring the dungeon is never completely safe. I like the basic idea because there is always a reason to keep moving instead of just wandering around looking for fights. The random dungeons work quite well for this kind of game. I never know exactly what the next area is going to look like, and that makes each match feel a little different. The fact that I am racing against other players also gives the exploration some pressure. I have to decide whether I should focus entirely on my quest or take the time to fight someone who is getting in my way. That makes even the simpler parts of the dungeon more interesting because I am always thinking about what could happen next. The combat is pretty basic, but I think that fits the older style of the game. I can fight the different creatures I come across and deal with other knights when…

i think some people would like this but its just not me, personally it got to boring to quickly, i would reconmend making everything a bit bigger on the screen, and make it possible for full screen. i would give it like a solid 4.5/10 its not really me.

I have around 35 hours on the non-steam version. It's a lot of fun for 1v1 matches, and the games always get super chaotic!
