Last Dream: World Unknown

Carrying over your save from the previous entry plus an expansion to the previous entry's class skills and a great endgame - these are what sticks with me the most after all these years. Hated the art direction. Could've made more use of the turn-based tactics minigame I only encountered once. These two gripes make it a recommend for returning Last Dream players who thoroughly enjoyed it, but I can't recommend either picking it up or not picking it up for people who didn't absolutely love the previous entry.

As others have said this game is a massive slog to go through. It's painful to play, all the status effects enemies throw at you are insane and the game is trying to make your life as difficult as possible. Play the original, it's a good game, don't touch this if you value your time at least a little bit. + The same charm like the original game. + Build crafting in this game is amazing, just like in the OG. + The strategy guide deserves a shout out, its super detailed and its a joy to read. - Extremely grindy and time consuming. Dungeons are terribly laid out, its very hard to navigate, enemy encounters are often and they are super annoying to deal with because of all the status effects they easily apply to you. This is the main gripe with the game if you read reviews. - I dont like how you start high level and everything is already pumped up. I much prefer to start from zero. - Default RPG maker tileset. - Big big difficulty spike compared to first game.

I bought this game due to good reviews, especially regarding the supposed high quality storytelling. However, the storytelling in this game is very expository. Very over-reliant on flashback scenes that do not tie in with the character's actions. A poor use of the lost memory plot device. Nothing in this game really kept my interest after learning the gist of combat and exploring mechanisms. There is a huge learning curve to play at the beginning and then a plateau.

Great old school rpg with lots of side things to do. If you liked their first game you will also like this sequel.
