Development
Our development team is comprised of people who deeply cherish the RPGs of our childhoods.
We began developing Last Dream to be the central element of our decades-running annual RPG Tournament among physics graduates. That is, we started with the sole desire to craft an enduring game that we would personally enjoy.
As Last Dream progressed and over 50 creative individuals became involved, we realized that other people might enjoy our game as well. Now, after investing thousands of collective hours in game development and testing, and after receiving such generous support from the Kickstarter and Steam communities (thank you!!), we present you with Last Dream - the first in a trilogy. Last Dream II is currently in development.

Overview: You play as your standard amnesiac that washed up on a beach near the town of Oakwood and were nursed back to health by a man named Dante, one of the town’s more successful residents. Your journey starts when Dante’s daughter is mysteriously abducted and taken to a local run down keep and he asks you to rescue her. After doing so he informs you more about the circumstances he found you in and tells you that an old friend across the sea might know more about how to return you to the world you came from. As he knows you’ve had the feeling that you just didn’t belong where you’ve found yourself. So your journey begins into mystery, tragedy, and the toll of time. Presentation: This is your standard looking and controlling RPGmaker game. It has some ideas but as far as interacting with it… its not very complicated. What makes this game a little different is what is under the hood. That being said the game is going on 11 years old so some of the controls are a little stiff and the game stutters a bit, and I couldn’t find a way to fix it. There are some precision control puzzles that may have been doable at one point, but at least for me I just couldn’t get the controls to …1 found this helpful
I'm not even sure I can honestly recommend this game or not. I enjoy a fine rpg, this is a mixed bag of pacing, bugs, gameplay. Still enjoyable for what I played of it. I will pick it back up to finish it. The lack of available menu options is insanely limiting. I suppose in that sense it really did live up to the old school nes/snes/genesis rpgs of the early 90s1 found this helpful
Sorry, but this just is not what I consider a fun Turn-based RPG. It has too many LONG high-stress puzzles where you have to count every step. It has too many puzzles with no clues how to solve them without resorting to the very long official guide. It has high-stress minigames you have to complete in order proceed. It has strict sequencing without good clues or guardrails that prevent a player from getting stuck.
Last Dream is a retro-inspired role-playing game that fully embraces the spirit of classic console RPGs while adding enough modern design improvements to remain enjoyable for modern audiences. Developed by White Giant RPG Studios, the game clearly draws heavy inspiration from legendary titles of the 8-bit and 16-bit era, combining turn-based combat, world exploration, dungeon crawling, and party customization into a lengthy fantasy adventure filled with secrets and optional content. Rather than trying to reinvent the genre, Last Dream focuses on recreating the feeling of older role-playing games where exploration, strategic combat, and gradual character progression formed the heart of the experience. From the beginning, the game establishes a strong sense of nostalgia through its visual style and structure. Pixel-art towns, overworld maps, hidden caves, ancient ruins, and classic turn-based encounters immediately evoke memories of traditional fantasy RPGs from earlier gaming generations. However, the game succeeds because it understands that nostalgia alone is not enough. Beneath the retro presentation is a surprisingly large and carefully designed adventure packed with meaningful…
Look, if you're a fan of the pixel Final Fantasy games, you need this game. It absolutely encapsulates that experience, but be warned: There's way too much content in this game. Play until you get bored, you'll get your money's worth.
Honestly, if you like what you see just give it a try. It starts simple, but it really opens up to have a lot of systems going for it.
