Do you like the [i]concept[/i] of a factory game but get turned off by the prospect of optimizing a vast and complex production chain? Do you like the aesthetic of a factory converting raw resources into refined valuable goods but don't want to open up a spread sheet work out if you're maximizing your profits? Do you like watching cute anime creatures toil for your own enrichment and amusement? Lazy Witches Factory gives you the short term dophamine hit of numbers going up without the huge time commitment. Each game is 30 minutes, you have to set up your production chain ASAP and you have no time to make it pretty. To win the game you have to pay off debt by producing and selling items worth money. At certain milestones you are offered "contracts" which give you different types of buffs. Ultimate success depends on building broken combos to rake in the cash before the timer runs out. While there is strategy involved in picking different contract sets (you can choose different sponsors before the game starts.) on higher difficulties the game can become more luck based because if you don't get the right contracts within the right time you're just not going to win. I loved this. The voice acting is fantastic, the units adorable (although the seemingly pregnant slime is a little concerning, I guess), and the factory automation mechanics work very well. My only criticism is that the player's ability to succeed appears very dependent on the RNG. On anything above Hell 1 difficulty, I usually only am able to succeed when the stage has just the right things and I roll just the right upgrades that allow me to reach the end goal. This is either because I suck or the RNG hates me. Possibly both. Usually the failure point involves the game not giving me enough conveyor belts, or the map not generating the appropriate resources for me to produce valuable products and the debt-clearing rewards never providing the upgrades that allow me to a generate sufficient income. Either way, I'm really enjoying this, and the difficulty modifiers, too. If you're a fan of A) Anime and B) Factory Automation games, this is definitely one to check out.

I actually liked this game a lot more than I thought I would! Looking forward to more content in the future

This game is so fun. It's a roguelike factory builder with a small enough set of pieces/recipes that it's not too hard to get a handle on the options available to you, but every run has you looking at what's available on the map and what contracts you're offered and figuring out how to pull them together into a moneymaking machine. I'm 25 hours in and still feel like I'm finding fresh things to do each run, and there are special missions with variant rulesets to add some more variety on top of that. Can't wait to see how it plays once they add the last two sponsors to the game! All the art and flavor is absolutely adorable, too. (I never get tired of hearing Momoko's little "bleh!" when she splats down onto the map.)
