League of Mermaids

A decent match 3 game with a little bit of physics mixed in it as the balls you try to match can move around.

I'll be brutally honest, I wouldn't have purchased this if it wasn't for the recent sale. This game has a lot of nostalgia value for me since I used to play the mobile version when I was younger, which is one of the reasons why I paid for it in the first place. However, I don't think it's worth the price you pay for it. It's frustrating, it's not easy, the physics engine isn't amazing, I've sank many attempts into levels and quit out of impending rage and quit the game for the day knowing that I'll probably delete my progress if I keep playing and keep failing objectives and keep restarting the level til my patience runs out. But there's something that keeps it fun despite so many negatives. It's somewhat unique and the graphics are nice and even though the gameplay is annoying at times, it's a rather tranquil experience. To sum it up I would recommend this game if you want a unique Match 3 experience with a nod to titles such as Peggle, but I'd wait until the sales come back around.

League of Mermaids is a physics-based match-3 game that takes a genuinely interesting approach to the genre — instead of a static grid, you're dropping balls into dynamic containers where gravity and bouncing determine your fate. Completing levels is manageable, but chasing three stars on each board is where the real challenge (and fun) kicks in, requiring you to beat time limits and hit specific objectives that demand actual strategy rather than luck. That said, the physics can feel slippery and unpredictable at times, and some moves seem to hinge more on fortune than skill, which gets frustrating when you're going for perfection. The story is thin, the mechanics are simple, and it won't win any awards, but as a casual time-killer with a bit more depth than your average mobile port, it's decent — especially on sale.

This game is wonderful. The physics are tight. Very addictive. Well Done!

As you can see from how many hours I've spent on this game, I really enjoyed this for casual gaming. The premise is simple, you need to match up different coloured circular gems in order to get them off the board and to clear each level completely. The physics are nice, the gems move well and their weight affects the gems surrounding them. There are a lot of very tricky puzzles where you have to try to get a perfect score by matching special gems, and there is a good problem-solving element to all levels. It's also very replayable as you struggle to get a perfect score n earlier levels which you initially just were thankful to complete in the first place. There are also special gems which allow you to eliminate more gems as you go along, including 'bombs' which explode surrounding gems, ones which destroy a line, and others which destroy all of one colour. The bottomless pit level is one which makes you come back again and again as you try to beat the achievement (haven't yet - so close!) and all in all it's a great casual game with a good deal of variety. Oh and there's some sort of story about mermaids so forgettable that I simply can't remember it at all.
